Club met in the school auditorium for the regular meeting last Thursday, The subject for discussion was “Understanding The Needs of our Children”. Most of those present either had no children or they were grown up, still it turned out to be a very interesting and helpful meeting. After the main part of the program, the recrea tion leader had a contest, “Are You Penny “Wise.” Most of us found that we were not very “Penny Wise” so hope we were not pound foolish either. A survey was made last fall and it, was.found that 8 of these veterans had a gross farm income of $3,000.00 or more. The vete rans now have over $10,000 in vested in livestock and machi nery. They are cultivating , this year 1,445.8 acres of land. One veteran has bought a small place of his own. The three instructors of these veterans are college graduates. The veterans are divided edu cationally as follows: 1-2 years college, 6- high school gradua tion, 43 who range from third grade through the seventh.. The average grade level being 6.9,- practjcally ' 7th .grade. The p ro- gi:am is under the direction of Stephen Williams, teacher of vo cational agriculture at the Up church High school.
