Miss McMillan, 'who ^is a gradu^ ate of Converse college, Spartan burg, S. C., has also studied at Fontainebleau, France, and has held teaching positions at Mere dith college and Converse. At the present time she is a member of tha faculty of Flora Macdonald college, Red Springs. During the social hour the hos tesses, Mrs. R. B. Lewis, Mrs. Luke Bethune, Miss Josephine Hall and • Miss Agnes Mae John son served block ipe cream and pound cake. 0 WOMEN MEMBERS OP ' THE TACULTY HONORED The grademothers the^ Rad ford Kohools entertained all the feminine members of the Raeford school faculty and school person nel with a tea on Wednesday af ternoon. This was given in Mrs. H. A. Cameron’s suipmer house. AH teachers present were pre- " sented with exquisite corsages, the gift of the Raeford Garden- club. During the afternoon sand wiches, cookies and punch were served. Between 75 and 100 en joyed this most delightful occa sion. MRS. J. C. CAMPBELL HONORED •Mrs. J. C. Campbell was honor guest at a birthday dinner last Sunday, given by her daughter. Mrs. Murphy McLauehlin, at her home Bear Antioch. Only members of Mrs.', McLauch- lin’s family were present, and en joyed a delicious birthday din ner. Mrs. McLauehlin received many lovely gifts. 0 PIANO RECITAL Mrs. Arab Stuart will present ber piano students at a recital Tuesday, May 13, at 8:15 p. m-. at the High School auditorium The public is cordially Invited to attend. ENTERTAIN FOR TEACHERS TUESDAY . ^On Tuesday evening the teach ers of Marion Lewis and Alice Sutton Matheson were shown an ;htt,ra^ive courtesy when Mr. and ilrs.^R. B. Lewis and Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Matheson entertained t&e Lewis home. , Spring flowers in vari-colored shades were effectively combined in the entertaining rooms where four, tables of guests enjoyed a delectable dinner. After dinner an Informal hour was spent in conversation. MR. AND MRS. THOMAS ENTERTAIN On Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. J.. B. Thomas entertained a number of young couples at their cabin in the country. This was a fish fry. Hot fish and all acces-. series were served to art appre ciative gathering. Again on fues- day night the Thomases enter tained about ten couples with a fried chicken supper and numer ous other things.. Mr. Clark is a graduate of Hoke County High School. He was a member of the U. S. Army for 5 years and is now engaged in far ming and is in business at Clark and Davis Sinclair Station. GARDEN CLUBiWEETS WITH MRS. LYTCH AND MRS. MiFADYEN. COJflUUNITY ^SING ■ ! Mrs. Lacy McFadyen and Mrs. Clarence Lytch entertained the Raeford. Garden club on Tuesday afternoon. This meeting was held in the home of Mrs. Lytch and was the last meeting of the year. Much business of importance was discussed and officers for the next club year were elected. Mrs. T. B. Lester, Jr. was made president, Mrs. Paul Dickson, Sr. vice-pres ident and Mrs. Marion Gatlin, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Paul Dickson, Sr. was in charge of the program for the af ternoon, which was very short in order that members might attend the pageant at Flora Macdonald. The correct pronunciation of a number of flowers and a few timely and practical pdiafs on .planting azaleas and p(nlfiirig shrubbery that has just finis'bed blooming were given. The hostesses served ice cream,- fresh strawberries and cake and salted nuts.
