ROCkFlSH NEWS By Mrs. A. A. Mclnnis, On Wedjigsday evening of last week, just before the piano re cital given by Mrs. Frances Gapp’s music pupils, the school and com- m.unity enjoyed a picnic supper on the school grounds. The food was good and plentiful and the teachers supplied a quantity of lemonade to 'the delight of the little folks and grown-up too. Melvin vis ited Mrs. Melvin’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manly Grooms last Sun day. Mr. Melvin has just returned from Japan and received his dis-, charge from the Army last Mon day. Mrs. W. G. Bandy and son, Al len Hill of Lincolnton who visited Mrs. Brandy’s mother, Mrs. Ellen Jones, last week were accompan ied by Mrs. Armon Bruton of Mt. Mrs. Sue Sharpe gave a dem onstration of the Stanley products at Rockfish Community house on Monday night of this week. The products seemed to be genuine and a great deal of interest was shown by those who were pre sent. Mrs. M. R. Knight, Misses Bes sie Wright and Bennie Lee Brock went to White Lake last Saturday. Brown preached the baccalau reate sermon at Parkton High School Sunday morning at 11 o’ clock. Several persons from San-, dy Grove attended the services. Mrs. Agnes Hendrix and dau ghter, Mrs. Sue Guin spent the week end with relatives near St. Pauls. . Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Barnes and son visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank lin Bristow Saturday afternoon. Miss Blanch McFadyen of Ashe- boro fs spending sometime with her mother, Mrs. H. A. McFadyen, who is sick. Frankie Davis, who is, a mem ber of the marines, is spending sometime with home folks. Mrs.*: D. L. McGou^diiP'alM at tended the funeral servicef of At las C. Harris at St Pauls Friday afternoon. He was her uncle. Mrs. Lizzie Tolar and son at tended the funeral of her uncle. Atlas G. Harris at Evergreen last Friday. He was 91 years of age and spent his boyhood s days in this community. The funeraF’was -- .1 conducted ’in the St. 'i^uls ' odist church and, internment in the church cemetery.
