Editor of the Raleigh News and Observer, was Secretary of Navy in World War I, Secretary Royall is scheduled to address the'' more than 1,400 4-H Club boys and girls who are expected to attend their special week. Present arrangements call for the distinguished North Carolin ian to speak at the evening ses sion, Friday, August 12, in Rid dick Stadium. Time has been set at 8:00 o’clock,, and radio station WPTF will broadcast the speech on a state-wide network of prin cipal stations. ■Delegates froni the state’s 1,? 955 4-H Clubs will spend five days and nigh^ on the. State Col lege campus; partioipating in con ferences, study, demonstrations, recreation, contests, and ^special events. Total cash receipts in 1946 totaled $764,404,000. The total in 1945 was $638^ 414,000. Practically all. of the increase came, the report^ stated, from marketing of crops, which brou ght farmers $633,394,000 as again st $508, 159,000 in 1945. Returns from sales of livestock and live stock products were slightly low er during 1946,1 totaling $119,- 799,000, compared with* $120,» 910,000 in the pirevious .year. Government' payments to farm ers in 1946 were'higher, totaling |$11,211,000 as compared with $9,345,000 in 1945. Conservation payments made up $8,096,000 of the total Govern ment payments during 1946.. Dai ry production payments account ed for $3,106,000, with payments for sheep and lamb and beef pro duction making up the remain ing $9,000. In 1945, conservation payments totaled $5,897,000; diary production payments, $3,434,000; beef and sheep and lamb produc tion, $10,000, and truck crop pro duction, $4J)00.
