tacks a farm every 15 minutes or
100, times each day. Ten farm
people die each day as the result
of fire. Drd you know that the
total fire loss this year. will be
about equal to the value of every
productive acre and every farm
building in the state of Wash
ington? This would build 50,000
$2000 barns. Did you know that
forest fires this year will burn
over an area as large as the State
of New York, destroying enough
timber to biuld 200,000 five roo'm
houses? 'Remember that ninety
percent of the fires gan be pre
vented. Keep trash and ■ danger
spots cleaned up.

Every farm should have a small
orchard. Peaches are the basic
fruit in any orchard. For ripe
peaches over the longest period,
it is suggested that the follow
ing varieties be put in the home
orchard: Early-Red, Diixigem, Ju
bilee, Raritan Rose, Halehaven.
Belle of Georgia, and Elberta.
October is a good month to
treat peach trees for the control
of peach tree borers. Use Ethylene
