THE NEWSaoUBNAL S’. HMIE IflllOlimATMlI WEEK Homemakers who have qualifi ed from home demonstration work of the Extension Service-there are more than 3 million of them in this country-are celebrating this week (May -7) as Nati^al Home Demonstration Week*. They seek, by acquEiinting oth er women with its advantages, to express their gratitude for the great national educational pro ject which brings to women the latest homemaking information without a charge. Those who art organized in home demonstration clubs will hold exhibits and spec ial meetings and toms to obtain wider recognition of problems af fecting the rmal family and to encourage participation of a great er number o^ families in the ex tension program. During these chaotic days v^hen the maintenance of those funda mental principles on which om country was founded are contsant- ly in que^ion, we can find reas- smance and hope in the work be ing carried on by the womanfolks of our farms. In every part of this country, home demonstration clubwomen carry on the service which they have dedicatetf to the promotion of all those elements which enter into the creation and Let us remind you of HAIL INSURANCE on tobacco Now is the time to give some thought to protection of that tobacco crop which you already have so much in. We insure other crops, too. Several cotton losses w^ere paid through our agency last Season. Ask us about hail insurance on all your crops, and do it now. iPANY RAEFORD, N. C. ; : -Si* development of bettm conditions for the people living on om farms and in om rmal disfiricts. Here we find American demo cracy at its best. Here the farm er, justly known as the backbone of om nation, is ably reinforced by the women folk who carry on their community service in ways and in areas of activity which the busy farmer could not approach. It is accepted without question that the farmer is essential to our national ecohomy. . The farmer and his family play even a larger role than that represented by their production of essentials. It is the people of our farms, and rural areas who typify those sound principles on which the futme of our country rests. It is in the home life of our farmers that we see at its best the sound ■balance between the struggles for the more material elements in liv ing and the realization that life’s greatest contentments and satis factions are to be found in simp ler pursuits and the expression of religious faith in our way of life. In promoting all those elements which enter into the fulfillment of their creed and the “Creation of Better Homes Today so as to make Better Citizens Tomorrow” the women of the Home Demon stration Clubs are making an in spiring, contribution' to our Na- tionaT v/elfare. 53 Mrs. Jane McKimmon Honored On Nation-Wide Radio Broadcast radio script was a documentary script portraying the early work of Dr. McKiminoa and showing how the home demonstration or ganization progressed under her supervision. f The broadcast featured a farm family with file mother as narra tor, a son, two daughters and hus band appeared in the final scenes.
