Mary Helton has been a patient at Moore County hospital since the first of last t\^egk. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Love of Burlington have arrived to spend a two week vacation with Mrs. D, J. Love. Miss Martha Ben Gulledge is leaving today for a visit with fri ends in Hertford. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Fuller and Mrs; Dwight Brown left Tuesday for Junaluska where , they will spend several weeks. They will also spend some time at Little Swit zerland before returning to Rae ford. Miss Betsy Ann Cole, who re turned to Raeford froiii Harts- ford. Conn, last week and who was an attendant at the Jordan- Baker wedding went to Wilming ton Friday where she was a bridesmaid in the Holtzclaw-Ben- son wedding Saturday. Mrs. Billy O’Rourke and dau-. ghter left last week for their home in Newport News, Va. to spend this week. They were accompan ied by Mrs. O’Rourke’s mother, Mrs. W. F. Walters. They will re turn to Raeford the latter part of the week. Mrs. I. Mann, Alilton, Shirley and Joyce Mann left Friday for Wrightsville Beach where they will spend the month of Juy. Mr. Mann returned Tuesday morning after spending the week end there and will join them each week end while they are there. Misses Elsie McNeill and Ruth Ivey are spending this week at Myrtle Beach. ' Air. and Mrs. Sonny Surles of Raleigh were week end -visitors in the home of Airs. J. P. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Gulledge visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Floyd in Lumber ton Sunday. n. ®**®^*f The' folks of Pine Forest com munity gathered at the commun ity house on the Fourth for their annual picnic. At 6:30 a bountiful picnic supper was spread and af ter eating everyone enjoyed sev eral hours of informal conversa tion. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Meyers and family . have moved to Clinton. They left Raeford yesterday. Mr. Meyers is superintendent of a mill there. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Phillips and family are spending this week at Crescent Beach at the Maults- by cottage. McNeill, Jr. and two sons attended a fam ily reunion of the Lentz family; that is descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Lentz; in Ra leigh Sunday. This reunion was held at the home of Mrs. J. W. Hylton Wadsworth of Clinton has been transferred here to the A. & P. from Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin McDoweU have moved to Raleigh where Air. McDowell is now working for Montgomery Ward, Miss Sarah Neill McKeithan is spending the summer in Burke- vile, Va. with her. sister, Mrs. William Mottley. Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Niven had a? their week end guests, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Wrenn and Mrs. Bill Garrett and son of Rox^oro. Faircloth spent Saturday and Sunday in Lynchburg, Vmginia, where they visited Mrs. Faifcloth’s brother, J. B. Haire, who is re cuperating from anf operation. Mrs. Frances Davis and daugh ter, Miss Betty Davis, of Greens boro spent the week end here with Rev. and Mrs. B. P. Robin- spn. They were accompanied back to Greensboro by Miss Ethel Sue Gulledge who is visiting her aunt Mrs. Dick Pascal there. Among the men who left here Saturday for Black River on a fishing trip were Marshall Thom as, Lacy Clark, Buck Chisholm, ,W. J. Coates, Joe Gulledge and Buddy, Harry Greene, Benton Thomas and Benny McLeod and Arch Sanders. Mr. Sanders re turned home Sunday and Mr. Thomas and Benny returned Tues day, the others remained for sev eral days. Mrs. Harry Greene and daugh ter, Frances Ward, are visiting- Mrs. Greene’s mother in Swans- boro. ^ Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Little Flora Ann • Hall enter tained a number of her friends on Tuesday, July 5, from 3 till 5. in celebration pf her 10th birth day. Gaines, contests and other items of interest were enjoyed after which ice cream and cake were served. Mrs. W. J. Coates, who has been with the REA office here for the past several years, resigned last week. All the other office em ployees who were with the REA here are continuing their work with the Co-op in Red Springs. Guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Haithcox Sunday were • Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Mr. and Mrs. Bishop Robinson and two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Robinson spent the week end at Nags Head and went to see the Lost Cblony at Roanoke Island. Mrs. W. L. Poole spent the week end with her sisters near Liberty. Mrs. Jennie Weaver left yester day for Albemarle for a visit with her son, George Weaver, and family. Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Lester and daughter visited friends in Wil mington the past week end. Mrs. Luke Bethune, Misses Isabel and Peggy Bethune and D. Scott Poole took Miss Maude Poole to Charlotte Friday where she joined the Moore tours for a trip. They all spent the day with Mrs. Hugh Lowe. Alary Neill left Tuesday of this week for Topsail where they are spending the week at the Gatlin cottage. ' . Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Shaw and family of Wilmington were guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Cole Sunday. Miss Julia Shaw remained for a longer visit in the Cole home. Mrs. Percy Niven of Dunedin, Florida, arrived last Friday to spend this week with her mother, Mrs. M. W. McLean. Miss Lois Autry,' student nurse at Presbyterian hospital in Char lotte has been spending a two week’s vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Autry on R-3, Red Springs. She returned to Char-e lotte Monday night to resume her duties. ■ Earle Wilfong of Gastonia spent Tuesday and Wednesday in town visiting friends.
