cccrrisli news — • By Mrs. A. A. Mclnnls. Everyone is glad to have Miss Jeanne Shiel of Wilmington back as teacher of the 3rd and 4th grades in the Rockfish school this year. She spent the past week end with home folks in Wilming ton. Mrs. N. J. Ritter suffered a heart attack ^.recently but was able to attend Home Demonstra tion duo meeting last week, we are glad to import. Mrs. W. T. Boseman and Mrs. George Monroe visited Mrs. Janie McGougan and family at Lumber Bridge last Saturday. Bruce Dees left last Monday week to enter State College. Grady English is at home and out again after having an appen dectomy at Highsmith hospital recently. The old school building that has been used for a dwelling since it ceased to be a school house is being remodeled by Mr. Herr,'an Koonce. Mr. and Mrs. John Raye have had their lot cleared up and all signs point to a new house there so Rockfish may be more than a name some day. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Edge of Fay etteville visited Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Boseman Sunday. Thomas Mclnnis and Mrs. Mary Mclnnis spent last week in Ashe ville. They visitid Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Mclnnis and Mrs. Clinton Robertson. You pay 40 cents for a ham sandwich when you go to Mt. Mitchell. There will be preaching service at Tabernacle church here Sunday night conducted by the Rev. C. W. Myrick of Cumberland, who preached last 'Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yeargan and children spent the past week end with relatives in Garner and Ra leigh. The growing season is so short cotton will not mature in and a- round Asheville but we saw some growing in a lawn in the city' last week that was boiled up to the top with no sign of boll wee vil and it looked as if a few more days of warm weather would bring it to the full grown stage. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Monroe and baby son-, Joe Allen, are mov ing into their new house this week near the, home of his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Mon roe. Most people here got satisfact ory reports from their x-ray -pic tures. A few are having to take it over. The Queen City Bus Company’s representatives were at Rockfish Monday looking over the roads and it seems that a bus on the highway will, soon take the place of the “Jitney” on the railroad.
