On Tuesday afternoon, Miss Betty McLean had charge of the story’ hour for the older group, from the fourth grade up. Much interest is being shown in the reading project for the summer, and there is a large number of ioooks to select from. Mrs. Jesse Gibson has present ed the book. The following insects have caused conisderable darnage dur ing the last few weeks and in some cases are still attacking the ''ovincfer plants. the rate of 10 lbs pe racre; or Mix 1- lb Paris green with 25 lbs wheat bran and moisten with water..Use 15-20 Ibs^and scatter in late afternoon. Veget^ile, Weevil: Use 5% DDT at the rate of 6 to 10 lbs pe racre on plants. Heavy residues of any insecti cide may cause buyer discrimi nation, therefore heavy doses should be avoided just before priming 'as iar as possible. Many insecticides are *danger- oils to handle an duse. and the precautions recommended by the manufacturer should be followed. This is particularly true of Para- thion and TEPP.
