No books were distributed on that day, but a promise to be back in two weeks with the books was made and everyime is looking forw’ard to that time which will be next Thursday. The chicken supper sponsored by the Ruritans last Friday night w^as a success in every way. Both fried chicken and chicken stew plates w'ere served in the most bountiful style. It w^as a very en joyable meal and the Ruritans cleared about $50 of which will be used to send delegates to the National Convention at Roanoke, Va. in January. The lunch room ladies chose Tuesday as the day to serve Thanksgiving turkey to the child ren needless to say it was a real treat and much enjoyed bj» the w’hole school. Mrs. M. L. Wood entertained at the Community House last Friday night in honor of her daughter. Miss Jane Wood, on her birthday. After games and contests refresh ments were served to the more than 50 guests. Miss Wood was the recipient of many lovely gifts. String music for the occasion was furnished by Wallace IVTcLean, Dan Mclniis and Thomas Mc- Innis. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Tillman and sons. Jimmy and Jerry, of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stephens of Grantham and Mrs. Mary Dorr of Tampa, Fla were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tillman Sunday returning home Sunday afternoon* with the ex ception of Mrs. Dorr who re mained for a longer visit. Joe Yeargan visited his father at Garner the past week end. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Ray of Fay ctteville were dinner guests of Mrs. Marshall Ray and Mr. and Mrs. John Ray Sunday. ter, Mr. and Bflirs. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Currie of Raeford visited in the home of Sgt. and Mrs. Robert Ray Sunday. Leroy McPhail left Sunday for his home in Carson, Miss, after spending two and a half months with his sister, Mrs. E. J. Farn- ham and Mr. Farsham. The pupils of Rockfish schooi gave Thanksgiving programs, be fore celebrating Thanksgiving with a turkey dinner on Tuesday. Each room contributed some thing to this program. K. A. Hawkes and Thomas Mj- Innis were among those from Rockfish who attended the violin concert at FMC Red Springs Mon day evening. The many friends of Mrs. Laura Crowley and Mrs. Mac McDoug- ald were sorry to hear of their illness last week. Both are pat ients at Highsmith hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Stein of Fort Bragg visited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tillman for a while Sat urday night. Women of the Home Demon stration club had a quilting at the home of Mrs. C. L. Wood Monday. Page of Wil mington spent the past week end with their son-in-law and daugh The PTA held its regular mon thly meeting on Monday night. Mrs. Wilton Wood’s 3rd and 4th grades gave the Thanksgiving program for this meeting. The Primary room under Mrs. G. A. Monroe won the prize for best at tendance, which was extra good this time. The PTA decided on having a picture show once a week when they get the new equipment. Date to be set later.
