It is composed of women in Turn Pike and Five Points communities. Mrs. H. W. Ellis was elected President, Miss Mary Webb vice-president, and Mrs. Horace Walters, Secretary and Treasurer. The club held their first meeting in the home of Mrs. J. A. Webb, Sr. ' An all day landscaping demon stration was held at tiie home of Ifr. and Mrs. R, B. Shockley, of near Rodcfish on Mlurch 28. John H. Harris. Extension Horticultur ist of Raleigh, was present, and directed the planting of shrubs, preparation and planting of grass in the la\icn, and laying of walks and drives. Miss Julia Mclver, EKtension Clothing Specialist, spent Wed nesday.*- afternoon, March 29 in the county. She held a leaders training school for Clothing Lead ers, who will repeat the demon stration at -their club meetings in April. The Philippi Club served lungh to the Hoke County Board of Com missioners and J. A. McGoogan on their regular meeting day. The subject ’ at club meetings in March was “Stenciling on Fab rics”. Several club members have purchased stenciling sets and plan to paint articles for gifts. The 4-H County Council met on the morning of • March the 10th. Several items of business were discussed. It was announced that the Hoke County 4-H Club mem bers would camp at Swannanoa near Asheville the third week in June. A movie waj also shown at the meeting. The High School 4-H Club members sold sandwiches and cold drinks at the Tractor Maintenance School and made $13.00 .which is to be put in a transportation fund to go to camp.
