THOMAS GIVE INFORMAL »TEA FRIDAY J A pretty ii^ormal tea, honoring Miss Leonora Currie, was that given by Mrs. Crawford Thomas and Mrs. Younger Snead at 4:30 on !]^iday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Snead. A corsage of deep pink rose buds and baby’s breath was given to Miss Currie. Guests were invited into the dining room, which looked beau tiful with its bridal decorations. Flowers used on the table were white snapdragon, regal lilies and baby’s breath, flanked by lighted candles in crystal holders. Mrs. Paul Dezeme served punch. Ices in the shape of bride’s roses were served with individual cakes daintily decorated. The hoste^es were assisted in serving by tlieir daughters. Misses Iris Thomas and Jenelle Snead. The bride- elects gift from the hostesses were crystal. Twenty-five friends of the honoree and her mother enjoyed this hospitality. 0 Those attending the graduation of Dr. Riley M. GARDEN CLUB MEETS WITH MRS. R. L. CARTER Miss Janie Lou Veasey Married To Thomas F. McFadyen Saturday P. M. . The Garden Department of the Raeford Woman’s Club met at the home of Mrs. R. L. Carter on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. H. A. Cameron Vand Mrs. Israel were co-hostesses with Mrs Carter. Mrs. W. T. Coviilgton, chairman presided during the business ses sion. "^he club voted to change the meeting date from the first Tuesday in each month to the second Tuesday in each month, and. the next meeting will be held in September. Mrs. H. A. Camer on was voted an honorary mem ber. A very interesting program on “Nature Study” was presented by Mrs. William Lament and Mrs. j. S. Johnson. Mrs. Lament spoke on Trees and Mrs. Johnson on Birds. Mrs. Clarence Lytch won the prize in the contest held on the name of trees, and Mrs. Aga- nora Andrews won the door prize. During the social hour a tempt ing plate of sandwiches and cookies was served with an iced drink. 0 Mrs. C. P. Trexler and children accompanied Sgt. and Mrs. Mur phy Hancock' of Fort Bragg to Greensboro Saturday to see Mrs. W. S. Hancock, who is Sgt. Han cock’s mother, and Patricia and Joe Hancock’s grandmother. SENIOR BRIDGE CLUB JOURNEYS TO WINSTON- SALEM THURSDAY Mrs. Robert McCleskey invited her mother’s bridge club, which is the senior club, to her home in Winston-Salem for a spend the day party last Thursday. Eight club members accepted the invitation and went early for a full day. The morning was spent in shopping and visiting,^ After a appetizing luncheon at Mrs. Mc- Cleskey’s home, the party settled down for an afternoon of bridge. High score was made by Mrs. Adelyne Johnson and low score by Mrs. Clyde Upchurch. Both were given most attractive prizes. Those going to Mrs. McCleskey’s were: Mrs. Clyde Upchurch, Mrs. Adelyne Johnson, Mrs. Julian Johnson, Mrs. Benton Thomas, Mrs. Marshall Thomas. KEN McNEILL The newly organized American Home Department of the Raeford Woman’s Club held its first meet ing on Friday night of last week at the home of Mrs. Ken McNeill at McCain. Th^ following officers presided during the meeting: Mrs. Ken McNeill, chairman; Mrs. Wilton Wood, vice-chairman; Mrs. Pres ton Kelly, secretary; Mrs. Harry Harrison, treasurer. Hostesses and programs were selected for the coming year. The members were well repre sented at the meeting and several hew members attended. At the end of the meeting deli cious refreshments were served. 0 — ■ BRIDE-ELECT HONORED WITH BRIDGE PARTY The marriage of Miss Janie Lou Veasey daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Veasey, and Thomas Fad- yen, was solemnized in a candle light ceremony at 8 o’clock Sat urday. evening at the Raeford Baptist Church. The Rev. Judson Lennon, pastor of the bride, and the Rev. P. O. Lee, pastor of the Raeford Methodist church, offi ciated. The double ring ceremony was used. A program of nuptial music vvas presented by Mrs. Alton War ren, organist, and Mason Bell, soloist, both of Fayetteville. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin with a fitted bodice and full skirt -falling into a cathedral train. It had a mar quisette yoke inset etched with a seed pearl design. The design was repeated on the long sleeves, pointed over the hand. The fin gertip length veil of illusion fell carried the traditional white tnr- chid on a prayer bofr. Mrs. Dan Pitt of Rocky Mount, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a floor length gown of orchid lace and mar quisette. The bridesmaids t were Miss Ruby Dunbar and Miss Ag nes Rell. They wore similar gowns, One of aqua and one of pink. All three attendants car ried bouquets of yellow rosebuds and carnations. They wore small flower coronets, matching their gowns, in their hair. Little Olivia Pitt, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She wore white organdy over yellow satin and carried a basket of yellow rosebuds. Pfc. Donald Schubring of Ft. Jackson, S. C. was best man. Groomsmen were Fred Mc Fadyen, brother of the groom, Alton Warren. Dr. Julius Jordan and Dan Pitt. For the wedding Mrs. Veasey wore powder blue sheer with white accessories, and Mrs. Mc Fadyen wore pink with white ( accessories. Both wore corsages of pink camafions. Immediately following the cere mony the bridal party formed a receiving line in the vestibule, of the church to receive congratula tions after which the couple left for a wedding trip. For traveling Mrs. McFadyen wore a suit of navy with white accessories and the orchid lifted from her prayer book. The bride is a graduate of Hoke County High School and will com plete her nurse’s training at Highsmith hospital the latter part of June. Pfc. Mc-radyen also graduated from Hoke County High School and attended Bob Jones College, Greenville. S. C. He is now in the army and stationed at Fort Jackso.v S. C. In the dining room a motif in yellonr and white' was carried out in flower arrangements and all ap pointments. The table w?s t over- ed with a hand embroidered clofli of Chinese linen and design- Yel low candles in crystal holders and glads, snapdragons and roses in yellow with feathery sprays and maline bows were used on the table. A large silver bowl on buf fet held m.agnolias and magnoMa buds. Decorated cakes, salted nuts, and candies and the punch bowl, holding frozen orange punch, completed the table arrangemenls. Murray' entertained for her with bridge. This Very pretty party ■was given at the home of Mrs,. Murrky, which was most attractively ar ranged, for the occasion. On arrival the guests were ser ved punch on the terrace. Miss Maude Poole poured. There were five tables placed for bridge and one for rook in living room and den. Miss Cur rie’s place was marked with a corsage of gardenias and gypso- phila. After a number of progressions, Mrs. W. M. Roberts held highest score in bridge and Miss Mayme McKeithan in rook. Both were awarded prizes. Mrs. W. H. Hasty of Maxton, aunt of the bride, was a guest and was remembered with a gift. The gift to the bride-elect was china in her pattern. A most refreshing ice course was served after the game. -O- COUPLES CLUB ENTERTAINED Mr. and Mrs. Ray Muench en tertained the couples club Sat urday evening at their home. There were three tables playing with Mr. and Mrs. Israel Mann and Mrs. Doug McLeod visitors. Israel Mann won the visitor’s prize and Mrs. Neil Senter the club prize. The girls were enrolled in classes of music, art and crafts and 'swimming. Miss Hefner and each of the girls worked on the. State program of work for the following year.
