Department of Agriculture’s plen tiful foods list for the Southeast for October, the county home demonstration agent for the.State College Extension Service, re ported this week. The apple crop this year is es timated at .119 million bushels, and volume marketings during the month should keep generous supplies of apples in most South ern food stores. Broilers and fryers ore next on the October list, followed by 10E inSWS-JOURNAL turkeys, dry beans, cheese, skim milk products, fish fillets, canned apples and applesauce, table grapes, processed citrus products, cabbage, onions, and honey. The home agent said marketing of broilers and fryers in the com ing month may average as much as a third above the same month last year. The turkey crop 7 this year is a record high, and alarge part of the crop will ibe marketed by ,the end of October. Grapes are another record crop, with production of all classes es- fimated at about 3,166,000 tons. A heavy volume of table grapes is usually sent to market in Oc tober, and good supplies should be found in most food shops throughout the Southeast. 0 The cold war being waged toy the Crusade for Freedom will help prevent a hot war. 0 MORE ABOUT SCHOOL NEWS ing of the Masters Club was held and also a meeting of all Fayette ville State Teachers College alumni.
