“>AY, MAECH 27,1952 new&joubnal L>#fe Weather Good For Charleston Gardens Charleston, S. C.—Charleston’s world-famous gardens, already a- blaze with hues of scarlet, pinir and lavender azaleas, have been given a helping hand from the weatherman. Originally, full bloom at Mag nolia, Cypress and Middleton Gar dens was scheduled for the last ' two weeks of March. But because of the perfect weather for pre serving the full bloom, visitors will also be able to witness the color spectacle through the first week of April. The garden owners are well- pleased with the weather this year. This was not the case last year, however, when a severe winter damaged the immediate bloom. The gardens made a great recovery, and today everything is completely back-to-normal. In fact, the owners are predict ing that this will be the best bloom since 1948. And even more pleasing are the visitors. This year the number of tourists and tra vellers stopping at the gardens is well ahead of previous seasons. While thousands of garden- lov ers along the Atlantic seaboard annually wait for the full bloom i to visit Charleston, the tours of historic houses are also attracting many visitors. The Historic Charleston Foun dation has arranged toius of 17 private homes, all of them splen did examples of 18th century architecture. At Magnolia Gardens, long pro claimed the world’s most beauti ful, vistas and vistas of massed color are thrilling visitors.
