THE WORLDS MOST WIDELY USED DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
Now come. I will send thee into
Effypt. (Acts 7:34.) Read Acts
7:30-36.
Stephen was pointing out new
values in old facts. That did not
set well with his hearers. It sel
dom does! Among others, he men
tioned Moses, to whom, in the
wilderness mountain, the Lord’s
angel appeared in a flame of fire
in a bush. Moses was astonished.
By getting close he expected to
see better. What happened was
better than that. When he came
close, God’s voice came clear. He
heard the best! His curiosity was
rewarded tvith God's revelation
of Himself and His will for Moses
—“Now come, I will send thee
into Egypt.”
We tend to rfin in grooves, or
we settle down when we ought to
be'on the go! We do not attempt
to find new' meanings in our
familiar ways. We do not set -out
to see God’s sights! There are
fields white unto harvest which
we never see. Js it true that real
living takes time. It also takes
trouble. We can obtain bondage
through ease. Liberty requires
strenuous vigilance and struggle.
So does growth in Christlikeness.
No cross, no crown.
PRAYER
Dear God, awaken us from our
ease. Arouse us to lobk for tasks
needful to be done for Thee.
Help us today to hear Thy voice
as Thou speakest to ns in the
familiar things and events. We
know Thou wilt be with ^s as we
go forth -into some ..Eygpt -to
which Thou art this day calling
us. Teach us obedience to Thy
will. For the Master’s sake. .4men,
Thought Foe The Day
Christian liberty is dearly
bought. — John M. Versteeg

OF SAFjjjy,
Yon never mistake the meaning of
a Charch spire.
Even to those who are cold to the
ideals for which the Church standa,
that finger of faith always points to
something that is comfotting, rea8>t
taring, safe.
The very presence of a Charch,
whether in a crowded city afreet or
on a quiet country road, it a bene
diction to all, including those who
are not conscious of worship.
Such an influence, with what it
means to those who open their hearts
to truth, is worthy of a aacond
thought. It merits acceptsnce as a
refuge. It commands confidence as a
port in time of storm.
The Church deserves your support'
—your membership—because it af-.
fords real protection for the family
whose welfare it is your doty to de
fend and vritose proper upbringing !«
your solemn obligation,
