Miller at the Bap tist Hospital at Winston-Salem Friday. They found him doing well following surgical opera tion on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. N. A. McKelthan and Miss Sarah Neal McKelthan are spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley McKelthan at Sharon, Fa. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Gibson and son, R. H., Jr., attended birth day dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Livingston at Saddle Tree Sunday, honoring Mrs. Livingston's mother, Mrs. Fowler, of Laurinburg, and Mr. and Mrs. David Gibson on their birthday. The dinner was served picnic style on the shady lawn, with birthday cake and all the usual good things to eat. The Rev. M. L. Baxley of Red Springs visited in Rockfish on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. English and family attended the Hood Reunion t White Lake on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. William Andryu sky and son, Billy, Misses Kath leen and Eileen Capps, all of New York City spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Milton Capps. Misses Kathleen and Eileen Capps left by plane Saturday for New York; the others remained for a longer Visit. Mrs. Rowland Smith and sons, Ray and Henry, of Danville, Va., returned home Saturday after spending some time with Mrs. Smith's parents,' Mr. and Mrs. Archie Hector Ray and family. Mr. and Mrs. K. P. Ritter and daughter. Miss Patricia Ritter, spent several days last week at Kure each. There was a Dee's Reunion pic nic dinner at White Lake Sunday for the family of Mrs. Ida Dees of Hope Mills. All the Dees re lativeS from Rockfish attended W ' and from their report, all the oth ers were present too. G. F. Koonce of Lakeland, Fla. came last week to spend a while with his sons, Herman, Stanley . and Clarence Koonce. A good many people from Rock fish attended the funeral of Mrs. Carrie McKenzie at Sandy Grove Methodist Church Sunday. The community extends its sympathy to the bereaved family. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Liles of Laurinburg were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Caddell Sunday. Wayside Grange met on Monday night and plans were made for a picnic at the next meeting, the sciond Monday night in Septem ber. Mrs. Marshall Newton and son, Buddy Newton, attended the Golden Wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Newton at Sanford Sunday. A picnic dinner was served with about 100 pres ent. The couple, who have no children of their own, were de lighted with the affection shown them by their nieces, nephews and other relatives, friends anu neigh bors in the many beautiful and useful gifts which they received. Miss Martha Lillie McCaskill of Laurinburg spent the past week end with Miss Betty Scarboro. Miss Pearl McLeod of Raeford spent the past week end with Mr. a.id Mrs. Kirk Parker. After spending a few days at Fort Jackson, since his return from Korea, Lt. Thomas McPher son and Mrs. McPherson visited Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Parker last week and spent the week end at Mebane. They are now in Flor ida. Lt. McPherson served as platoon leader with the heavy n ortcrs in the 40th Infantry and was in Korea for almost a year.
