PAGE TWO THE NEWS-JOURNAL THURSDAY, JULY 1, 1954 CCCKHSM NEWS By Mrs. A. A. Uclnnia. The weather is not generally considered a good news topic, but some rain right now would be wonderful news for the people in this area whose crops and gardens are burning up. Mrs. Wesley McKeithan and children of Sha:on. Pa. spent the past week end with Mr. and Mrs. N. A. McKeithan. They came here from Bunn, where they were visiting Mrs. McKeithan's mother, Mrs. Shearon. Seems strange that Mrs. McKeithan's maiden name was so nearly like the name of the place where she now lives in Pennsylvania. Bobby Watson, ton of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Watson of Fayctte ville and grandson of A. L. Long, who was so seriously ill after having spinal mincnfiitis at the Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, visited with his parents in the home of his gran Jfather Sunday and is now doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shockley, Mr. and Mrs. Will Monroe, Harold Monroe, RAEFORD Drive-In RAEFORD, N. C. Thurs. - Frl. - July 1-2 "LOVE IS BETTER THAN EVER" Larry Parks Elizabeth Taylor Saturday - July 3 Whip Wilson in "MONTANA INCIDENT" ALSO Charles Marrctt "JUNCTION CITY" Miss Joyce Coneley, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pittman and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Capps were among those from this section who at tended the big sinking at Benson Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jones and son, Dale, spent Sunday with Mrs. Jones' parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Dalrymple, of Sanford. Philippi Church is having their daily vacation Bible School this week, closing Friday evening. Parker's Church is having Bible School this week. The closing ex ercises will be Friday evening and there will be a picnic supper at the church at seven o'clock. All parents of the children and friends of the church are invited to come and bring a basket. Mrs. F. A. Monroe Mrs. J. W. Caddell, J. W Jr., of Raeford and Mrs. Jim Sharp and son of Bakersfield, Calif, visited friends in Rockfish Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heath and family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Caddell last Sunday. Since a lot of people were in terested in Mrs. E. T. Brock's little ducks, just one more report on them. They are about half grown and the seven make a pretty sight on the water and to see them eat is amusing. They take a bite of food, run down the bank into the water, take a sip, and come right back to get more food and back to the water again. It's a continual round with some going and coming all the time. Guess it is well the chicken hen has been relieved of her respon sibility, for she'd probably be scratching with all her might, making it more difficult for the little ducks to go through their procedure.
