Charlie C. McLcod of Raeford
was recently congratulated by
Maj. John J. Tighe, 226th Signal
Company commander, after being
promoted to corporal in Korea.
Corporal McLcod, a wire-truck
driver in the 226th, entered the
Army in December 1952 and was
stationed at Cairn Gordon, Ga.,
before arriving overseas in May j
1953. His mother, Mrs. Elizabeth:
McLeod, lives cn Route 2. I
Army Pvt. Alvestcr McNeill,
Jr., 21. whose wife, Hazel, and
parents live on Route 3, Raeford,
is serving in Korea with the 3rd
Infantry Division. Private Mc
Neill, an infantryman, arrived in
the Far East last May. He enter
ed the Army during August 1953
and completed basic training at
Camp Rncker, Ala
