the home, the Rev. G. Scott Tur
ner, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist
Church will have for his subject
next Sunday night, "The Worth
of the Engagement", and all in
terested persons are invited to

The PTA of Rockfish School
met last Thursday night with the
president, Mrs. Paul Heath, pre
siding. A very interesting film
strip was shown. As a result of
previous discussions about heat
for the music department, a heat
er has been procured and Install
ed, so that Mrs. Crawley and her
music pupils will not have to shi
ver and shake while they 1, 2, 3,
and A, B, C, with the piano les
sons. The chairman and some of
the committee on bcautification
of the school grounds made plans
to go to Parkton to see about get
ting shrubbery one day this week.
The Rev. B. O. Shannon, pas
tor of Galatia Church was absent
last Sunday, due to illness. Mr.
Sessoms, a layman from Comfort
Church, Fayetteville, conducted
the morning worship service in
the pastor's absence.

Haslett of Elberton, Georgia and
Miss Ruth Temple of Fayetteville.

broke and report them to be
really worth hearing.

visited Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heath
at Stedman Sunday.
The people of this area were
shocked and saddened to hear of
Mr. and Mrs. N. A. McKeithan
accompanied Mrs. Will Frank
Wright of Raeford on a visit to
her husband, who is a patient at
Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville,
last Sunday. Mr. Wright had a
piece of shrapnel removed from
his leg since going to the hospital,
which caused a lot of pain for a
time, but now he Is much improv
ed and expects to be home soon.
G. A. Monroe has been a pat
ient at Veterans Hospital since
last Thursday. We wish for him
a very speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith Mclnnis of
Raeford, Route 2, have both been
ill this week with something like
flu.

Skillet Mrat Loaf
2 pounds ground meat
2 tsp. salt
1 cup water
13 cups rolled oats
1 egg
Vi cup butter
1 medium onion chopped
To meat in mixing bowl, add
oats, salt, onion, egg and water.
Mix well and form into compact
circle the size of the skillet. Cut
into six-pie-shaped and place in
skillet with butter melted in it.
Cover closely and cook over low
to medium heat for 15 minutes.
! Turn and brown on other side.
Remove to hot platter.
Braised Onions
12 small onions
3 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. sugar
3 tbsp. catsup
Peel onions and boil In salt
water 10 to 15 minutes. Drain
and brown lightly in butter, with
sugar. Stir in catsup and any
gravy from meat loaf. Heat ar
range so as to serve with skillet
meat loaf.
Lemon Cake Top Pudding
3 tbsp. sweet butter
1 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
3 tablespoons flour
Vs cup fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1 cup milk
4 egg whites
Cream butter, add sugar gra
dually, and cream together un
til light and' fluffy. Add egg yolks
and beat well. Add flour, lemon
juice and peel, and mix well.
Stir in milk. Beat egg whites un
til stiff, fold into mixture. Pour
into loaf baking dish, 9x5 inches.
Set in pan of hot water and bake
in a slow oven 40 minutes. Turn

thermostat to 350 F. and bake
10 minutes, or until brown. Serve
either warm or chilled. Makes 8
servings.
