Men In The Service
Sgt Clifton W. Harrington, 24,
on of Mrs. C. B. Harrington,
Route 2, Aberdeen, recently was
transferred from Okinawa to Ko
rea and is now a member of the
24th Infantry Division.
Sergeant Harrington was re
assigned when his former unit,
the 75th Regimental Combat Team
on Okinawa, was deactivated.
A squad leader in Company L
of the division's 34th Regiment,
he entered the Army in October
1951 and arrived In the Far East
on his current tour of duty in
December 1954.
Pfc. Joseph C. Allred, son of
George C. Allred, Route 1, Aber
deen, is taking part in the Army's
Alaskan "Exercise Moose Horn"
in the Big Delta area, 165 miles
from the Arctic Circle.
During the four-week maneu
ver, several thousand troops will
receive practical training in tac
tical bperations and cross-country
movement under simulated com
bat conditions. Winter tempera
tures in the region drop to about
50 degrees below zero.
Also, two methods of arctic
supply, airdrop and giant over-
snow tractor-sled-trains, are be
ing compared.
Private First Class AllreH is
regularly assigned as a driver in
Company D of the 71st Infantry
Division's 4th Regiment in Alaska.
Allred entered the Armv in
August 1954 and was stationed at
Fort .Jackson, S. C, before ar
riving in Alaska in January 1955.'
