THE WORLDS MOST WIDELY USED DEVOTIOKAl CUIDE
Rejoice in your hope, be piti-
ent in tribolatioii, be constant in
prayer. (Romans 12:12. RSV.)
Read Romans 12:1018.
1 was in the nas*}’ and. for the
first time, helmsman for my ship
in a practice maneuver. Through
a fault of mine, the gunnerj’ offi
cer did not get a “shot" at an ima
ginary submerged submarine. He
reprimanded me in not too pleas
ant a tone and bad me replaced.
But after maneuvers, when we
were returning to port, he said:
“Take the helm; I still trust you.”
I now eralize that the officer had
not been angry at me, but at my
mistake.
(Jod does not condone sin, but
He never belittles man who sins.
The Bible proclaims to us the hope
of salvation. A sinner can be re
generated by the power of the liv
ing Christ and right away turn
from a life of sin and do so much
good. The Bible teaches us to re
joice in the hope that one day we
shall meet him face to face; to
have patience to defeat tribula
tion. By reading the Bible and per
severing in prayer, we can be in
continuous communion with the
, Father.
PRAYER
j Eternal God of mercy, hallowed
' be Thy name. We thank Thee for
I Thy Word and the blessing of
j prayer. Through prayer we are
I able to receive strength for a new
I heart, and to ask forgiveness of
' our trespasses. Protect us in Thy
I love; through Christ. Amen.
Thought For The Day
‘ Blessed are they who find hope
in God’s Word and accept Christ
as their Saviour.—Paulo Alexan
