Miss Brenda Abrams,
assistant home economics
extension agent, reports that
approximately twenty women
attended the workshop on
Invisible Zippers. For the
benefit of those v. ho could not
attend some tips on applying
these zippers are: apply tension
to the fabric and zipper during
the stitching to reduce pucker;
hold the fabric and zipper
together both in front and
behind the needle; do not pull
on the zipper when stitching;
cross seams such as waist, and
yoke should be pressed open
before you apply the zipper; to

assure the matching of plaids
and stripes alter stitching one
side of the Invisible Zipper,
position the other side and
hold in place by the use of
zipper adhesive or scotch tape
and facings are best applied
after zipper application. The
best method to use in applying
your facing to reduce bulk is
(I ) Staystilch neckline on 58"
seamline. Using small stitches,
reinforce 1" from center back.
Clip seam allowance to
reinforcement stitching. Fold
and press down the I" of scam
allowance. Install your zipper
according to instructions. (2)
After applying zipper, apply
your facing. Fold back and
press facing I" from center
back; stitch facing to neckline.
Trim and clip seam, turn, press
and understitch.
When sewing with polyester
knits it is desirable to use
synthetic thread. It is very
important that the knit is not
stretched when installing the
zipper. This can be
accomplished by adjusting the
sewing machine to a lighter
pressure setting and
lengthening the stitch. Do not
pull the fabric but allow it to
feed through machine.
If there are any questions
about applying invisible zippers
please feel free to call the
county extension office 875

I have the privilege of
studying under an
internationally famous
professor. He writes books and
Bible study guides which are
read the world over. Through
television, lie has brought
countless men to Christ.
Yet what attracts some of us
who see him daily is not his
great scholarship for which he
is renowned - but the warmth
of his faith. After being in this
nun's presence the first time, I
really felt as if I had been with
the Lord Himself. Incredibly
busy though he is, he is calm,
unruffled, friendly,
approachable, always ready to
help in time of trouble.
That is just wha'., by the
grace of God, we as Christians
must strive for.
