Dr. Bruce Frye of St. Andrews College, Laurinburg preached at Calatia Church last Sunday a.m. The W.S.C5. of Sandy Grove Church met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Matlock last Tuesday night with Mrs. T. C. Jones and Mrs. Matlock as hostesses. Mrs. Jones had the program and there were 20 present. W. S. C. S. of Sandy Grove Church served supper to the men of the church last Thursday night. Mrs. Berry Barbour, pastors wife, Mrs. Ralph Plummer, Mrs. Lawrence Pannell, Mrs. Meta Parker and Mrs. Joe Lovette of Parker Church attended the W.S.C.S. District meeting at St. Matthews Church last Sunday p.m. Circle No. S of Galatia Church met Monday night with Mrs. Floyd Monroe with 9 present. Circle No. 4 met with Mrs. Fred Dinkens with very good attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Reynolds of Whiteville were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Fowler Sunday. Mrs. Thomas Leeton of Ft. Mr. Lone who has been a patient of Highsmith Rainey Memorial Hospital was much improved but not right well. Mrs. Demont Long who was a patient at Cape Fear Valley Hospital last week came home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. K. P. Ritter and Mrs. N. J. Ritter visited Mrs. Grover McDonald and her brother James Smith of Maxton Sunday. They found him improving since liis recent illness. They returned home by way of Ft. Bragg and visited tlie church at Long Street. They were accompanied that far by Mr. and Mrs. McColl and daughters Mrs. Butch Posey, Linda and Kimberly. Caddcll of Raeford must have caught a virus at the beach last week. They were both sick after coming home from Shallotte last week and tliey did not catch any fish. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Tanner, Mrs. Henry Fowler and daughters Carol and Kathy visited Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Garner of Carthage Sunday. Mrs. R. H. Gibson Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Gibson were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thornton and family of Fayetteville Sunday. PITTMAN REUNION The family of the late George W. Pittman and Mrs. Mattie Pittman held their reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Pittman last Sunday. Forth - eight members of the family were present. There were 5 children, 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and I great great granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pittman present. All of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Pitt man's children and grandchildren were present. The big dinner was t served outdoor picnic style and it was a joyful occasion for all. Special guest was the Rev. h. C. Taylor, pastor of Pittman Grove Church. Missed very much were Mrs. Mattie Pittman, the mother and grandmother of all and her daughter Mrs. Margaret Overton who were unable to attend. A fine day, lots of good food and loving kinfolks when they get together are the ingredients for a wonderful day and may the Pittman family have many more happy reunions. Bessie McNeill Is Job Corps Graduate Astoria, Oregon - Bessie Lee McNeill, 18, daughter of Mrs. Kstella McNeill, Route 2, Box 504 - A, Raeford has been graduated from the Tongue Point Women's Job Corps Center after completing a couisc in Health Occupations. She has been a trainee at the center here since March 1969. Tongue Point, which is operated by the University of Oregon under a contract with the Manpower Administration J of tlie V. S. Dcprtment of Labor, with Phiico Ford Corp, presenting vocational training as sub - contractor, has a current enrollment of 730. In addition to job skill t training, the Job Corps program included remedial education and personality development, and is available to disadvantaged young women between tlie ages of 16 and 21 .
