Tht Key Club it Hoke County High
has undertaken t project to help beautify
the county ind city for Chrittmu. On
Monday, December 22 they will clean -up
all the main highways leading into the
city, according to Avery Connell one of
their advisor. These roads include the US
401 bypass, Central Avenue, NC 211 S
(Red Sprinp), NC 211 N (Aberdeen),
Harris Avenue (Laurlnburg), and North
Main Street.
We commend the Key Club for
undertaking this project and we are
certain the highway dept. for the county
wiU give their thanks.
Keep up the good work, boys.
A note from Mrs. Lena Terrell reads as
follows:
"The Parker family will give a Yuletide
entertainment of instrumental music and
singing at the N. C. Sanatorium
Auditorium on December 27, at 6:30
p.m. No charge to the patients."
We would like to correct two errors
that have been brought to our attention
that were in last week's paper.
The first was in the article concerning
the pastor that officiated at the funeral of
S. M. McLauchlin. Eldress Louise K.
Thomas was listed as officiating but it
was Eldress Hattie McRae that delivered
the Eulogy. Eldress Thomas is the pastor
of the church and this caused the error
when the article was written.
The second was name under the
picture of the members of the Grange
that received 35 year pins. Listed was
Mrs. Ethel B. Graham and the caption
should have read Mrs. Ethel B. Gibson.
We can't say how this error occurred
because it was Mrs. Gibson who called
and gave a list of the members in the
picture. A mental lapse no doubt.
j
"We 'are sorry about these 'tvfii" mistake's
' and hope that this will make amends for
the errors.? We are only humans and
mistake wdl happen.
The rush at the newspaper office trying
to get everything ready for the holiday
aeaton tells us that Christmas is near but
it doesn't seem the same at home. With
Christmas Day only a week away and for
the first time In 20 year we don't have
any children around talking about the
holiday season. Sarah and John are both
away at college and we hope will return
today for the holidays.
We don't feel like retiring or being
ailed an old man but with the kids away
you lute the talk concerning life at the
high school and what the teen age world
I doing. So maybe in next week's column
we can write with Christmas dreams in
our head.
Don't forget the concert at the high
school tonight (Thursday). Also check
the paper for the many Christmas
program that will be given at the
different churches of the county In the
coming week.
If your organization hasn't picked out
a needy family fur Christmas go by the
Social Services department and get one.
Miss Mabel McDonald ha a muter list
and will be glad to help in any way.
