Court Convicts Hollingsworth; Gives Six Month Sentence George Hollingworth, well know "club owner" in Raeford and his wife, Bertha, were found guilty on charges of interfering with a police officer in the performance of hit duty, resisting arrest and aaaault in Friday s session of Hoke County District Court. Hollingsworth was convicted of aaaault and resisting arrest, while his wife was guilty of assault and interferring with a police officer. judge JJE. Duproe, a former law enforcement officer himself, sentenced Hollingsworth to six months imprisonment in the Hoke County Jail, assigned to work under the supervision of the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Bertha Hollingsworth was sentenced to six months in the quarters provided for women by the North Carolina Department of Corrections, capias and or commitment to issue at any time during the next three years on the motion of the solicitor or the court. She was also ordered to pay the costs of court. Hollingsworth gave notice of appeal to Hoke County Superior Court. Dupree set appeal bond at S1,000. James Earl Locklear, Route 2, Red Springs, was found guilty of resisting arrest, sentenced to six months imprisonment in the Hoke Coupty Jail, assigned to work under the supervision of the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Locklear gave notice of appeal and bond was set at $1,000. Thomas Warren Tate, Raeford, assault, the State took a nol pros with leave upon payment of the costs of court. James Robert West, Raeford, was found innocent of assault charges. Lola Reynolds Thompson, Route 1, Raeford, driving undei the influence and improper passing, the State took a nol pros. Frank Bristow, Hoke County, carrying a concealed weapon, six months in the county jail, suspended for three years. SOUTHERN PINES MEN IN THE SERVICE Army Private Dallas E. Fairley, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Fairley, Route 1, Raeford, completed nine weeks of advanced infantry training Nov. 21 at Ft. Polk, La. His last week of training was spent in guerrilla warfare exercises. During his guerrilla training, he lived under simulated Vietnam conditions for five days, fighting off night attacks and conducting raids on "enemy" villages. He was taught methods of removing booby traps, setting ambushes and avoiding enemy ambushes. Other specialized training included small unit tactics, map reading, land mine warfare, communications, and firing the M - 16 rifle, M - 60 machine gune and the 3.S ? inch rocket launcher. He entered the Army in June 1969 and completed basic training at Ft. Polk, La. Army Specialist Four Pernis McLean, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burd McLean, Route 1, Shannon, was assigned Nov. 27 to the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam as a wireman. Airman First Class Ralph Horner Jr., son of Mr. and Mi Ralph L. Horner Sr. i Pinehurst, has been decorati with the U.S. Air Fon Commendation Medal. Airman Horner received tl medal for meritorious servii as a weapons mechanic at Pha Rang AB, Vietnam. He wi cited for his outstanding dut performance.
