With Our Service Personnel Sergeant Jerry T. Brown, ton o! Mr. and Mrs. Barney B. Brown, Aberdeen, hat re enlisted in the U. S. Air Force after being selected for career status. Serjeant Brown, an administrative specialist at Taipei Air Station,Taiwan, was approved for re - enlistment by a board which considered his character and job performance. He is assigned to tne 327th Air Division, a unit of the Pacific Air Forces, headquarters for air operations in Southeast Asia, the Far East and Pacific area. The sergeant, a 1965 raduate of Aberdeen High chool, attended Sandhills Community College, Southern Pines. His wife, Barbara, is the daughter of Mrs. Gladys Oneill, 16 Bunns Lane, Woodbridge, N.J. Captain James A. Singleton 111, son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Singleton, 218 E. Third Ave., Red Springs, has received the U. S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Seymour - Johnson AFB. Captain Singleton, who previously served at Clinton ? Sherman AFB, Okla., was decorated for meritorious service. He it assigned at Seymour - Johnson as a navigator with a unit of the Starategic Air Commands, America's nuclear deterrent force of long range bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles. The captain has served 13 months in Vietnam. A I9SS graduate of Red Springs High School, he received his B. A. degree in 1960 from the University of North Carolina and was commissioned there through the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps program. His wife, Mary, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ramon R. Fernandez, 216 W. Madison, Brownsville, Tex. Sergeant Robert O. Oliver, son of Mrs. Doretha Oliver of 109 Whiteville Ave., Lumberton, is a member of a unit that has earned the U. S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Seageant Oliver, an aircraft mechanic in the 437th Military Airlift Wing, Charleston, AFB, S. C., will wear the distinctive service ribbon to mark his affiliation with the unit. The wing was cited for meritorious service in support of military operations from July 1968 to July 1969. It is part of the Military Airlift Command which provides global airlift for U. S. military forces. Sergeant Oliver is a 1965 graduate of Lumberton High School. U. S. Air Force Sergeant Robert G. Huggins. son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Huggins, Rt. 3, Lumberton, has arrived for duty at Seymour - Johnson AFB, N. C. ?MLKDLH? Member of the Fayetteville Kiwanis Club, Hope Mills Lions Club, Hope Mills Fire Department, the American Legion, Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and Fayetteville Area Industrial Development Corp. Henely has served four terms in the North Carolina House of Put Social Security Number On Tax Payments To IRS Greensboro ? Some North Carolina taxpayers make pay ments that cannot be properly credited to their account, ac cording: to .T. E. Wall, District Director for North Carolina. This happens when a payment is received without an accom panying: form or notice or be comes separated from identi fying documents. Payments that IRS can't identify are put in a special account until proper identifi cation can be made, Wall said. This necessarily delays action on that account. To avoid such identification problems, Wall asked taxpay ers to put their Social Securi ty number on their check or money order. It will also be helpful to note the type of tax and period covered by the pay ment. Wall said money order stubs or cancelled checks should be kept in case you are requested to verify a payment. He is presently serving on the Capital Building Authority and The Commission to Study and Use of Illicit and Harmful Drugs. He served as State Purchasing Officer for the State of North Carolina from 1963 to 1965. He was appointed by Governor Scott in 1969 to head a Study on State Government Reorganization. The Governor's Committee will report to the 1971 General Assembly. The citizens of North Carolina will vote on a constitutional amendment which will limit the number of departments in State government to 25. This Committee is charged with the responsibility of recommending to the Governor and to the General Assembly as to how State government can render services in a more economical and efficient manner lo its citizens within these 25 departments. He resides in Hope Mills with his wife, Rebecca, and three sons, John T., Jr., Robert, and Douglas., all now attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. ?WATER?
