Dalton, general manager of Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation, was honored by employees and directors April 4 with a steak dinner at the Holiday Inn in Laurinbuig. He was commended Tor his 30 years service with the company. Cecil S. Dunn, secretary of the cooperative, was master of ceremonies. J.M. McManus, former employee and now attorney for the organization recognized Dalton for his role in the organization of the electric cooperative and its progress thru the years under his leadership. Neil A. Watson presented Dalton with a bronze plaque from the Board of Directors. It was inscribed in recognition of his contributions to the organization of Lumbee River EMC and his outstanding leadership as general manager for thirty years. Mrs. Mima Byrne and H.E. Batton presented Mr. and Mrs. Dalton with a seven piece silver service from the employees of the organization. Special guests were the Dalton's daughter, Mrs. Mac Burr of Cheraw, S.C. and his son and son's wife, Mr. and HONORED WITH S1L VER A seven piece silver service was presented to Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Dalton, by employees of iMmbee River Electric Membership Corporation at a dinner honoring him for his years of service. More than 100 directors, employees, their husbands, wives and guests attended the dinner. Music was furnished by the Wally Hinkamps Combo. Big Registration To Camporee The Advance registration for the Council Camporee of the Cape Fear Area Council already indicate the largest attendance and participation upon the part of the patrols and Troops of the southeastern area of- North Carolina in the council history. Carlton Sligh, Council Commissioner and serving as Camporee Chief indicates that the hundred and forty five patrols registered indicates a great interest in the program as planned on April 17, 18, 19th at Riegal Tree Farm, in Lumberton. A part of the program will be a demonstration by the special Reconnaissance Force of the Marine corp Base at Camp Lejuene. Captain Strong of the group has already promised a program of Interest. The WSCS of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church met at the Hut Tuesday night with 18 members present with Mrs. Dewey Hendrix and Mrs. Brown Hendrix, Sr. hostesses. Mrs. David Hendrix, Mrs. Walter Parks, Miss Kathy Hendrix and Mrs. J.A. Jones gave the program on "Medicine and Religion a design for Health for the Whole Man." New officers elected were Mrs. Robert Orem. president, Mrs. David Hendrix, vice president, Mrs. Harley Adams, secretary and Mrs. Brown Hendrix Sr.. treasurer. The Rev. Hilton Willets a former pastor brought the Sunday morning message at Ephesus Baptist Church Sunday morrung April 1 2. The Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Willets visited old friends in the community. The Junior 4-H Club of Stonewall gave the program at the County Council meeting Thursday night at the Federal building. Mrs. Woodrow Hayes and Mrs. Robert Orem leaders. The Senior 4-H Coub met Wednesday night with 8 members present at the Community House with Mrs. Grover McMilliau and Dan M cGoogan. Programs were planned lor the coming year. The Senior 4-H Club will now meet twice a month on Wednesday nights. The Senior and Junior 4-H Club members and leaders will canvass for funds in the community Sunday April 19 for cancer. Randy Butler a member of the 82d Division in Fort Bragg vpent the weekend with his lamily. Danny Ratley son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ratley and a student at Richmond University spent the weekend in Washington. D.C. Mr. and Mrs Wayne Crowdcr and family of Mountain City. Tennessee and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Butler and family of Tappananock, Virginia spent the weekend with Mrs. Zeb Butler. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Scarboto of Raeford. Mrs. Louise Creech and children of Red Springs, Linda and Debbie Miller of Shannon were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Odell Miller and family. Mrs. John Shaw and son Johnny of Rex and Marvin Stephens and son of High Point were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. L.M Chason and son Tom. The Junior UMYF of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church met Sunday night at the Hut with 9 members and 1 visitor, Lynn Butler. Mrs. Walter Parks gave the program on "What Would You Do". Mrs. Grover McMillian and Mrs. Edgar McGougan visited Hector Gray at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville. Mr. Gray is seriously ill. John Glisson received word last Thursday that his brother Lawrence was ill in a hospital in Trucker, Georgia. Vicki McMillian celebrated her eleventh birthday with a "Hobo Party" at her home Friday night given by hei mother, Mrs. Grover McMillian. Hot dogs, potato chips. Cokes and birthday cake were served. F.ach of the twenty eight guests received a favor and the prize for the best hobo was won by Mike Black. Games and records were enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dudash and sons Bobby and Allen of Siler City spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woodcox and family. Mrs. Howard Andrews and children Donna.
