Five Generations At Chason Reunion The Chason family reunion was held Sunday at Waldo's Beach with five generations attending. Mrs. Charlie Chason, president, gave a welcoming speech and Aurthur Johnson asked the blessing before the picnic meal and led the family in prayer. Mrs. Bill Crawly was elected secretary at the meeting and Mrs. Cody McLamb was elected treasurer. Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Chason; Nora Jackson; Ada Bailey; Mr. and Mrs. Cody McLamb, Mark and Laura Lynn McLamb; Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Brigman, Guy and Joy Brigman; and Mrs. Annie Brigman, all of Fayetteville. From Raeford came Mr. and Mrs. Bill Crawley and Sandy Crawley; Mrs. Helen Barbour; Jerry Barbour, Mrs. Hazel Black; Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Black and Mark Black; Mrs. J. A. The Army has formed a task group to evaluate ideas and implement steps designed to increase service attractive ness and thereby enable the Army to move toward an all volunteer force. Called the All-Volunteer Army Task Group, the 16 mnn group is working under Lt. Gen. Walter T. Kerwin Jr.. the Army's deputy chief of staff for personnel. In evaluating ways and means by which service attractive ness can be improved, the group will consider sugges ti >ns to eliminate irritants which may discourage some y:>ung men and women from making Army service a ca reer. As a result of past Army efforts in this area, the task group has a good start in that it already has a list of more than 300 recommenda tions. These range from sug gestions for more efficient induction procedures to the possible elimination of KP. Mclnnis The president of Rockfish Community Development, Clarence Koonce has called a special meeting for Thursday night July 16 at 8 o'clock. Important business will be transacted and you are urged to be present. There was no news reported from Tabernacle Church this week. Attendance has fallen off at most of the local churches since vacation time. The six circles of Galatia Women of the Church met together at the church Monday night for a covered dish supper at 6:30 followed by each circle meeting separately then coming together again for their Bible Study by Mrs. Fred Dinkins. The Rev. Frank Smith of Hope Mills preached at Philippi Church Sunday. H. Gillis family reunion was held at Galatia Church last Sunday. Mrs. Douglas Monroe who had surgery at Highsmith Rainey Memorial Hospital on Monday of last week came home Friday and is doing fine. Mrs. D. E. Miller of Fayetteville visited Mr. and Mrs. P. C. English and Mr. and Mrs. Grady English Sunday. .Mrs. B. B. Bostic, Mrs. Gene McKethan and Mrs. K.A. McKethan attended the Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain the pst week end. They attended church services at the Presbyterian church in Boone Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Furman Martin of Fayetteville and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Grimes of Fayetteville Route 3 were guests of Mrs. David Koonce Sunday. Mrs. Koonce hears from her husband who is a patient at McCain often and at last account he was doing fine. Marilyn Barnes spent the past week end with Julie Kicklighter of Raeford. Jane Barnes attended the Electric Congress in Durham, Monday through Wednesday of this week. Miss Barnes was invited by CP&L to attend the Congress as a special guest entertainer. Mrs. Glenn Miller and children Kimberly and Patrick of Fayetteville spent Monday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Wright. Miss Mary McFadyen of St. Pauls spent the week end with her sister Mrs. Belton Stephens and family Miss Nellie McFadyen and her sister Mrs. Stephens and Miss Mary McFadyen visited their brother Charlie McFadyen of Hamlet Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. Hare and daughters Anita, Dorothy Elizabeth, Emily and Nancy of Charlotte spent Saturday night her his parents Mr. and Mrs. John A. Webb of Raeford Route 3. They were dinner guests of her mother and brother Thomas Mclnnis Sunday, and together they went to Fort Bragg Sunday and saw the Big Plane -C5 Galaxy. They were having open house and they went in and rambled about in the plane. The valves in the plane were made bv the company in Charlotte where Earl Hare was employed, so he was interested in seeing the name of his company on the valves. Mrs. Gertrude Holland and her daughter Bemice Holland of High Point spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Pittman and children Gerald Jr. Rene and Samantha at Holden Beach. Mrs. Edgar Pittman who helps care for the patients at Anthony Nursing Home in Raeford reports that Mrs. Ella Stutts, one of the patients there was taken by her relatives to Laurinburg Sunday to celebrate her 100th birthday. Mrs. Pittman says that Mrs. Stutts washes and combs her own hair, dresses neatly, is cheerful and still an attractive and lovely person at 100 years of age. She returned to Raeford Sunday evening laden with gifts and tired but happy. C ongratulations Mrs. Stutts and may you have many more Happy Birthdays. Mrs. Aubrey Gaddis and son enjoyed a visit from Miss Beatrice Hill of Fayettevillc Sunday. She is the Librarian at McNair School at Fort Bragg where Mrs. Gaddis is employed. Miss Hill also visited Mrs. Herman Koonce, who teaches at Fort Bragg. Last Friday the Rock fish Mets beat the Hornets of Brentwood 6 to 5 for their first win of the season. Barry Wood was the hitting star for the Mets. Mrs. Jim Maxwell attended the Chason-Jones reunion at Waldos Beach with her brother Frank Smith of of Pine Forest Andy Posey is spending this week at Camp Monroe. Dinner guests of Mrs. Nelia Brock, Mr. and Mrs. June Rogers and sons Keith and Craig last Sunday were Mrs. Evelyn Brock of Red Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brock and sons Jerr\ and Terry of Columbia.
