Task Group
On Volunteer
Army Formed
WASHINGTON (ANF) ?
The Army has formed a task
group to evaluate ideas and
implement steps designed to
increase service attractive
ness and thereby enable the
Army to move toward an all
volunteer force.
Called the All-Volunteer
Army Task Group, the 16
mnn group is working under
Lt. Gen. Walter T. Kerwin
Jr.. the Army's deputy chief
of staff for personnel. In
evaluating ways and means
by which service attractive
ness can be improved, the
group will consider sugges
ti >ns to eliminate irritants
which may discourage some
y:>ung men and women from
making Army service a ca
reer.
As a result of past Army
efforts in this area, the task
group has a good start in
that it already has a list of
more than 300 recommenda
tions. These range from sug
gestions for more efficient
induction procedures to the
possible elimination of KP.
