njpnin c unUMm Miss Sandra Kay Marks Is Bride Of Mr. Holcomb The wedding of Miss Sandra Kay Marks and Harold S. Holcomb Jr. was held Sunday, August 30, in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jack Mansfield heard the double ring vows. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Long of Route 2, Raeford. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. J.H. Austin, organist, and Johnny Hot tel. soloist. The honor attendants were Miss Blaine Marks, sister of the bride, and Miss Shirley Holcomt, the bridegroom's sister. Bridesmaids were Misses Leigh Flinehum of Aberdeen and Sherry Dunn of Clinton, both cousins of the bride. Beth Flinehum of Aberdeen "was flower girl and Kevin Mansfield was ring bearer. The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thud Marks. She wore a white lace and tulle gown designed with sabrina neckline, long pointed sleeves and cathedral train. Her veil was attached to a double crown fashioned of clusters of velvet loops and pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of cIt r y sa n tIte murns and carnations centered with an orchid and showered with long ribbon streamers. Mr. Long was best man for his son. ushers were Mike McNeill, Allen Wood, Charland Raynor, Joe Monroe, Terry Bundy, Ronald Monroe, all of Raeford, and Donnic Phillips of Fayettevillc. After the ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip to the coast. They arc living at Route 2, Raeford. The bride was graduated from Hoke High School. The bridegroom, a graduate of Hoke High School, attended Faycttevillc Technical Institute. Cake Cutting The bride's parents gave the cake cutting Saturday evening at the Hoke Civic Center. Guests included the wedding party and the families. Alter the bridal couple cut the first slice of cakc it was served by Mrs. Clayton Dunn of Clinton. Mr. Jack Hinchum of Aberdeen. Mrs. Herb Leander of Phoenix, Ari/. and Mrs. Phillip Allen of Lakcwood, Calif., all aunts of the bride, poured punch. Other hostesses were Mrs. Leon Alldred, Mrs. David Bobbin and Mrs. (iwcu all of Aberdeen Bridal Shower For Miss Haire On Friday, Mrs. Paul Livingston, Mrs. J.A. Niven and Mrs. Johnnie Robinsorr were hostesses for a bridal shower for Miss Peggy Haire, at the fellowship hall of the Raeford United Methodist Church. Upon her arrival the honoree was given a white rose corsage, after which Miss Haire opened Iter shower of gifts. A color note of green and white was used, the table was centered with an arrangment of mixed flowers. Mrs. John T. Haire, mother of the bride elect poured punch. Bridal cakes and chips were served. Sandhills Christiai Women's Club Miss Dawn Maultsby of Fayettevillc will give a musical program for the regular lunchcon of the Sandhills Christian Women's Club Wednesday, September 16 at 12:00 at the Country Club of North Carolina. Miss Maultsby, a music major at Sandhills Community College, has been soloist at the Baptist Church in Southern Pines this summer. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Eleanor Page of Virginia Beach, Va. The special feature will be a demonstration on "Instant Art", given by Mrs. Jean James of Fayctteville. A free babysitter will be at United Methodist Church, Midland Rd. in Southern Pines. For reservations call 875-3759. Bridge Club Meets Thursday The Baker's Dozen Bridge Club met Thursday with Mrs. Tom Risher and Mrs. Jack Alexander at the Alexander home. The hostesses served dessert and iced drinks when club members and the one visitor, Mrs. Tony Michaels, arrived. Prizes were given to Mrs. Neill McFadyen Jr. for high score and to Mrs. Bill Ashley for second high. Yvonne Baker Birthday Dance Lester Baker of Arlington, Va., gave a dance party Saturday niglu at the Hoke Civic Center in honor of his daughter, Yvonne on the occasion of her 16th birthday. The 200 guests danced from 8-12 to music provided by "The Crystal Ha/e". Punch, candies, chips, cookies and cheese twists were served. Her long illusion veil was attached to a circlet of bridal satin embossed with seed pearls and lace. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and pink rosebuds. The Rev. George L. Broome officiated for the double ring vows. The bride's parents arc Mr. and Mrs. Russell A. Chavis of Red Springs Route 4, and the bridegroom is the son of Mi. and Mrs. J.H. McNeill Jr. of Antioch. Wedding music was furnished by Mrs. John McManus, organist, and Mrs. - Barbara Ann Jackson, vocalist. Maid of honor was Miss Joan Annette Chavis, sister of the bride, and Mrs. John C. Smith Jr. of Raeford was matron of honor. Her .silk illusion veil was attached to a headpiece of lace motifs encrusted with seed pearls and rhinestones, and she carried a cascadc of white glamellias.
