CHRISTMAS CONSTRUCTION - Jim Williamson, Jerry Goza and Horace Wright construct a stable background for the Living Nativity to be presented at Raeford Presbyterian Church. Church Stages Live Nativity A living tableau of the traditional Nativity Scene will be staged this year by the members of the Senior High Fellowship of Raeford Presbyterian Church. This annual presentation is offered to the citizens of our area as a personal Christmas "Gift" front the young people and their leaders in the church. The Rev. John C. Ropp. Minisiei. has announced that the scene will be able to be seen as sou drive through the church's paved parking lot between Main and Magnolia Streets, across form the Doctor's Medical Clinic. The parking lot ma> be entered by either tdinborough or Campus Avenues. The scene will be presented on Wednesday night. December 23rd. from 7 00 until 0:00 p.m On Thursday night. December 24th, the young people will be in the scene from 7:00 ? 7 30 p.m. They will leave the scene at 7:30 to participate in the annual Christmas Eve celebration of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. They will return at approximately 8:15 p.m. to continue the Live Nativity Scene until l>:00 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Goza and Mr. and Mrs. Harless Wright are the adult advisors of the Senior High Fellowship, and are assisting the young people in planning and staging the scene. Officers of the S.H.F. are: Jimmy McFadyen, President; Becky Hood, Vice ? President; and Fonda Blue, Secretary ? Treasurer. Depicted in the still ? scene tableau will be the Manger. Mary. Joseph, the Angel. Wise Men, Shepherds and animals. Special lighting and costumes are being arranged for this event, and appropriate music will be played in the background. It is a unique, impressive Christmas event, and everyone in the Raeford and Hoke County areas is invited to take a few minutes and drive bv to sec it. DECA News By Bobby Smith On December 9, the DEC A club (Distributive Education Clubs of America) played the VIC A club (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) in basketball game. The two teams played four eight minute quarters and was refereed by two varsity ball players. When the final minutes were up. the DEC A club lost the game to the VICA club bv a score of 46 to 21. Before the game took place in the Hoke High gym. the club met at 7.00 for a business meeting. The club decided to have a "football appreciation dinner" on December 14. The guests were to invite their wives to the dinner which made a total of fifty ? six. The meal consisted of fried chicken, potatoes, salad, lea or coffee, and a desert served at the Family Restaurant at 6:00. Then on December 17, another dinner was scheduled. This was a dinner lor the Marketing students to thank them lor their help during the football season. The next item of business was the annual DECA Christmas party. It was decided that the party would be on December 19 from 8 00 to 12 00 in the DECA room. Casual dress will be worn, dates are invited, and refreshments will be made by the D.E. and Marketing girls; there will be cupcakes, cookies, brownies, potato chips and punch. Jr. is one of 1 26 University of North Carolina students tapped for membership in Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's highest scholastic honorary, in ceremonies in Chapel Hill last Tuesday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs Stanley M. Koonce of North Main Street Racford. He is married to Arlene H.Thornton of lirwin. Koonce has been a student at the University since September 1%6 and is now in the Graduate School. He is majoring in math and plans a career in industrial management. At UNC, he has been active in intra murals and residence college government.
