Rockfish News. By Mr*. A. A. Mclnnis The youth of Tabernacle Church went Caroling last Tuesday night, Dec. 22 and presented some of the elderly people with cookies they had made. The young people of Galatia Church went Caroling on Wednesday night before Christmas. They were served refreshments at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. McN. Gillis at the end of their Caroling tour. The Lake Rim Baptist Mission is now holding services on their permanent location. The members are over joyed to be in their new chapel. Mrs. Aubrey Gaddis says, "come and visit us." The youth of this church also went Caroling before Christmas. Robert McNeill became seriously ill last Tuesday evening and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital. He was taken from Cape Fear to Chapel Hill Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mussman of Lincoln, Neb. came last week to visit their daughter Mrs. Robert McNeill and family. Mr. and Mrs. Will Hare of Wayside had all their children and grandchildren with them for Christmas dinner on Dec. 25. They were Mr. and Mrs. Loey Hair and children, Billy, Geraldine, Jeanette of Winston ? Salem, Lib and Bud Lunsford of Kingsport, Tens., Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Cole, Jr. and children Linda and Betty of Columbia, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sanders and children Donna and Albert. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Berry had all their children and grandchildren for dinner on Christmas Day. Mrs. Berry's brother Evans, McKellar of Clarkton visited the Berry family Monday. Mrs. Floyd Monroe had all of her children and | grandchildren for Christmas | dinner at her home except Mrs. Douglas Monroe who was f unable to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Everett had a quiet Christmas day at home. Mr. and Mrs. Alex McBryde and Mrs. C.W. Boone visited them Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Brock's Christmas dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Broson and Mrs. Mary Sabage of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Brock. Jr. and sons Howard and Leonard of Fayetteville and Harold Brock and Gary Culp. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yeargan and Mrs. Jo Ann Crews, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Sorrell and children Tony and Michelle of Durham, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bundy and their sons Wayne and Jerry and families along with Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Brock and their guests gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Brock, Jr. Friday afternoon for a real family reunion. Mr. and Mrs. James Culp could not be present. They were with his people in Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Bundy had all their children and grandchildren at an oyster supper at their home Thursday night, Dec 24, except Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Beasley and children and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Bundy and children. They had the family Christmas tree on that night too. On Christmas day Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Bundy's dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bundy, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bundy and children Judy and Ronnie, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bundy and children Carl and Dayne, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bundy and son Gerald, Jr. Captain and Mrs. Thomas Leeton of Ft. Story. Va. came Christmas day and stayed over the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Bostic. Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Mattlock and son Mike spent a quiet Christmas visiting neighbors and having only neighbors as their guests. Mrs. Clara Everett had an inner ear infection recently. She was better at last account. Jones who had not been well was reported feeling much better. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Wood and daughter Deborah of Thomasbille spent Christmas day and night with his parents Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Wood had only a part of their family with them for Christmas this year. Marion Wood of Taylors, S.C. spent Sunday night with his parents Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Wood. He will be in and out visiting them for a while as he works in this area. Mr. and Mrs. June Rogers and sons Keith and Craig, Mrs. Nelia Brock and Mr. and Mrs. Junior Long were among those who had a quiet Christmas at home. Mrs. N.A. McKeithan's children and grandchildren who were with her for Christmas dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Willie McKeithan, Mr. and Mrs. Billy McKeithan of Fayetteville, Mrs. Lela McDowell and daughter Lynne and son Ronald of Apex, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shockley and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McKeithan and children Greg and Susan. Her special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Brisson of Fayetteville. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Barnes and children Jane Marilyn, Paul and Kenneth and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Dees and children Welbur, Mary, and Gale were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Dees Christmas day. The community extends sympathy to Bobby Powell in the death of his father Clarence Powell who passed away last week and was buried at Red Springs Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Sessoms spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Sessoms of Glenn Burnie, Md. recently. Wilson Sessoms of Glenn Burnie, Md. made a short visit to Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Chason and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Sessoms last Saturday p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Chason and son Larry, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Sessoms were among those who had a quiet Christmas at home. Mr. and Mrs. Chason's only guests were Mr. and Mrs. Demont Long and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chason and children Chuck and Jennifer. Mr. and Mrs. William Wright celebrated Christmas with all their 7 children, inlaws and grandchildren for Christmas dinner. They were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Miller. Kimberly and Patrick of Columbia. S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Tatum of Fayetteville, Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright. James Neill and Johnny Wright. Kimberly Miller is spending two weeks with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Wright. Mr. and Mrs. LB. Dees celebrated Christmas with a dinner at their home Sunday. Dec. 20 with Mr. and Mrs. Brown Hendrix. Jr. of Lumberton and Mr. and Mrs. Donnie King of Henderson. Mrs. Ella Carr of Oxford visited Mr. and Mrs. L B. Dees during the Christmas holidays and went with them to Winston-Salem. Mr. and Mrs. John Baker of Cameron spent Monday night with her sister Mrs. Floyd Monroe. Mr. and Mrs. K.P Rmer spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. John Garrison, Mark, Tom and Catharine of Winchester Va. Mrs Will Rmer fell and broke her hip and is in Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Emily and Nancy of Charlotte spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. John A. Webb of Rt. J. Raeford and were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Mary Mclnnis and son Thomas. Among the visitors in the home of Mr and Mrs. T G. Wood during the past weekend and Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. John Aldridge of Wilson. Mr and Mrs. Jerry Kool of Charlotte, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mclnnis, Jr. of Lexington. Mrs. Roscoe Smith and daughters Debbie of Red Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Newton, Jr. Christmas guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Ray and son Thomas were Mr. and Mrs. Bell Ciipson of Annapolis, Md.f Mr. and Mrs. Micky Pollard of Greenville, who were here Friday. Mrs. Ray's brother Vernon Mooring of Seven Springs and his son Varnev Mooring of Williamsburg, Va. were here Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood had all their children and grandchildren with them Christmas day except Mr. and Mrs. James Duncan and children of Florida. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wood and sons Jay and Timothy of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. M.. L. Wood, Jr. and children Jena and Randy. Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Wood and granddaughter Vickie had Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Wood and daughter Melody as their Christmas dinner guests and then they were supper guests of Jimmy Woods. Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Wood, Jr. and children Jena and Randy were Christmas dinner guests of her mother Mrs. Ollie Muse of Hope Mills. Other members of Mrs. Muse's family were also present. Mrs. Will Wood and her son Thomas Wood of Fayetteville visited Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood last Saturday p.m. Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson was among those who didn't have a very quiet Christmas but she did have an enjoyable time with all of her children and grandchildren on Christmas Day, even the two great grandchildren Yvette Bennett of Wilmington and Kimberly McMillan of Dundarrach. Her three sisters Mrs. Virginia Bounds of Red Springs, Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Upchurch and children of Lexington and Mrs. W.B. McDairmid were present at one time or another Saturday. Mrs. W.H. Schell of Lumber Bridge and Mrs. Evelyn Ward of Durham visited the Gibson family Sunday. Their visitors were Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Frye and daughter of Eagle Springs and Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Patterson of Wallace. After the visitors were gone Sunday night, the Gibson family went to Stedman and were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Gibson and son Randy. Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Long and Mrs. N.J. Ritter were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Demont Long. A very cordial welcome is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barnard and daughter Tana and Mrs. C.H. Dove who moved from Lafayette Village to their new home near Rockfish last week. Ricky Gibson went home with Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Gibson of Stedman Christmas day and stayed until Sunday night. He is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. Sid Sumner. Susan Upchurch of Lexington spent Christmas night and Saturday with Joy Gibson. Mrs. R.H. Edge had all of her children and grandchildren with her on Christmas Day. They were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Voung of Raeford, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Young and Mr. and Mrs. Garland Young, Mr. and Mrs. Cronzia Edge and Mr! and Mrs. Kenneth Edge of Fayetteville and her son Maburn Edge. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Overton's children and grandchildren who were with them for Christmas dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Guy and sons Tony and Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Overton and son Mark of Fayetteville. Mrs. Overton had a phone call from her daughter Mrs. Bernie Johnson of Ft. Hood. Texas to wish them a Merry Christmas. Mrs. C.M. Allison and son and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Plummer and children, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Plummer and children of Wayside Mr and Mrs. D.R Wilson of Garner. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Wilson, Jr were Christmas dinner guests of Dr and Mrs. W.E. Plummer of Goldsboro Saturday. Debra Allison, student at Appalachian University, is spending the holidays with her mother Mrs. C M. Allison and her brother David. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Miler ire making their home with Mrs. Allison temporarily. Clifford Miller is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. J B Vaughn of Atlanta. Ga. OLD TOWNSEND HOME RESTORED The children and grandchildren and great grandchildren of the late J.W. and Kate Lindsay Townsend met Saturday. Dec. 2b at the old Townsend home which has been restored by Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koonce. The old home wis festive with Christmas decorations. Plans were laid* for twenty four at tables in the dining and living rooms. PCA Officials Attend Management Confereh<>#? The directors and the general manager of the Lumbee Production Credit Association have just returned from Raleigh, where they participated in a Policy and Management Conference. according to Robert E. Ballard. general manager of the association. The conference was sponsored by the Federal Intermediate Credit . Bank of Columbia for directors and general managers of 19 Production Credit Associations throughout North Carolina. "fopics presented during the conference included Innovations in Credit Administration; Management _ Audits: Planning tor the Future and other current topics of interest. Those appearing on the program were officers of the Credit Bank including R.A. Darr. president; J.C. Moore, senior vice president; J. Fred Taylor. Jr., vice president; and John L. Marshall, vice president and secretary. Other Bank staff members participating in the conference were: Merrelle W. Harris, state supervisor, and Tom D. Nolen, director, EFR. Dr. W.D. Toussaint, head, Department of Agricultural Economics, North Carolina State University, was the principal speaker.
