TV Programs Planned For Tobacco Growers The latest developments in tobacco production will be the topic of five special television programs planned- for early January. The programs will be presented by six extension specialists over four i ommercial television stations and the University's ?ducational television system. All phases of tobacco production will be covered. However, the emphasis will be on mechanization and the proper use of pesticides, according to Dr. William Collins, who is in charge of the extension tobacco oroaram at -North Carolina State University. Appearing with Collins on the programs are two other tobacco specialists, S.N. Hawks DA Suspends Enlistments For WO Flight Training WASHINGTON (ANF) - Enlistments for the Warrant Officer Flight Training Pro gram have been suspended because a sufficient numbei of applicants has been ob tained to meet the Army's aviator training requirement for fiscal year 1972. Individuals who have beer enlisted in the 120-Day De lay Entry Program may b* offered either another train ing option or discharge from the Delay Entry Program Persons who do not desire other training or discharge will be brought onto active duty for aviator training. Aliens In Army Obtain U.S. May Citizenship Faster WASHINGTON (ANF) ? Many aliens in the Army are not aware of the liberalized naturalization procedures by which they can obtain U.S. citizenship sooner. Aliens should also be aware that U.S. military ser vice may affect retention of citizenship in their native countries. ? Aliens on active duty should be provided this vital Information in order to in sure that they fully under stand their rights. Details about mandatory counseling on the subject are in AR 608-3. ?SALES TAX? Continued from page I oul thai the sales tax was the only means of holding down personal and property tax ievys. The increased home ownership by those of low or moderate incomes makes the sales tax advantageous to that group, the commissioners said. If the tax is approved, the county will receive one half of all the revenue collected in the county. Commitments made by re cruiters to individuals who are not currently enlisted in the Delay Entry ProgTam will be reviewed on a case by-case basis at a level not lower than recruiting district headquarters. Enlistments may be authorized only when exceptional circumstances would cause the applicant a hardship. It is expected that recruit ing for this program will re sume on or about July 1. However, the annual recruit ing objective is expected to be substantially lower than during previous years. Aliens: Register During January WASHINGTON (ANF) ? The Immigration and Na tionality Act requires all aliens residing in the United States and its possessions on Jan. 1 to report their ad dresses to the Attorney Gen eral during the month of January. Aliens temporarily absent from the United States dur ing the month of January should not report their temp orary addresses but must re port permanent addresses within 10 days after return to this country. There Is only one vegetable for 1971 ? "Early Xtra Sweet" sweet corn. It Is re ported to be truly extra sweet. The ears are 7 to 9 Inches long and 1 1/2 to 2 Inches In diameter. It has 12-16 rows of kernels per cob and grows to a height of 5 to 6 feet. "Early Xtra Sweet" Is a bronze medal winner for 1971.
