AUGUST BRIDE-ELECT Mr. and Mrs. John R. Blackburn announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Annette, to Cecil Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Campbell, all of Raeford. An August wedding is planned. Woman's Club To Meet The Raeford Woman's Club will meet at the Civic Center Tuesday, March 2, at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Paul Dickson 875-3542 Fifth Avenue Bridge Club The newly organized Fifth Avenue Bridge Club met Thursday night, February 18, with co ? hostesses Mrs. Gib Bernhardt and Mrs. Eric Vann at the Vann home. Dessert and coffee were served as members arrived, with Cokes and french baked peanuts as refreshments during progressions. High score prize went to Mrs. Jim Blackburn, second high to Mrs. Olan Dean and consolation to Mrs. Eric Vann. Mrs. Bob Latimer honored the club as a guest. Mrs. Neil Senter, . r?" ?.h" Poole and Mrs. Luke McNeill were hostesses at a bridge luncheon given at the home of Mrs. Archie Howard Places were set at five tables each centered with a miniature lower arrangement. After lunch bridge was played. Mrs. Lawrence McNeill was the recipient of the high score prize. M rs. C arter Mrs. Bobby Carter was hostess to her bridge club on Tuesday night of last week Guests were served a dessert course before the game and nuts and Cokes during play. Mrs. W.L. Howell was given a prize for having the highest score. Hostesses Entertainr Mrs. Bobby Carter, Mrs. Neil aenter Mrs. John Scott Poole and Mrs. Luke McNeill were hostesses at a series of bridge parties last week at the Carter home. The living and dining rooms had several arrangements of attractive seasonal flowers. Six tables were in play at each party A dessert course and coffee was served on each occasion before the game. Fruit punch and nuts were served during play. Thursday night. Mrs. Hubert ooten won the high score ?.r'?? and Mrs. a.R. ritz^ommons was second high Friday night. Mrs. JH Austin and Mrs. Tom Rischer were first and second high score winners. Both were given prizes. 6 Monday night high score prize went to Mrs. Mike regram and second high to Mrs. George Crawford. Mrs. McNeill Mrs. Luke McNeill was hostess to her bridge club on Tuesday evening of last week. A dessert cuurse was served before the game and Cokes and nuts during play. Guests other than club members were Mrs. John Scott Poole Mrs. Paul Burnett and Mrs. John Reid Davis. Mrs. J.K McNeill Jr. was club high score winner and Mrs. Burnett won visitor's high. Mr. and Mrs. Clcvelan J. Holland had as their guest over the weekend his brother, H.H. Holland of Dunn. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Holland and jamily spent the weekend in w inston-Salem visiting her parents. APRIL BRIDE-ELECT m The engagement of Miss Marjurie Ann Mitchell to Donald Martin McPhaul, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Walter McPhaul of Raleigh is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Verd Venton Mitchell Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama. Miss Mitchell is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verd Venton Mitchell Sr. of Eclectic, Alabama and Mrs. Harry Leslie l.aubenthal and the late Mr. iMubenthal of Athens, Alabama. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. and will graduate from Auburn University, Auburn. Alabama in March. Her social sorority is Chi Omega. Mr. McPhaul is the grandson of Mrs. James W. McPhaul and the late Mr. McPhaul of Red Springs and the late Mr. and Mrs Frederick Martin Rosseland of Phoenix, Arizona. He is a Phi Beta Kap/kj graduate of L'A'C at Chapel Hill and is now in his third year at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem. His social fraternity is Beta Theta Pi. The marriage will take place April 10 in the First Christian Church in Montgomery, Alabama.
