Baptist Senior Group Begins <A Baptist senior citizen's dub is feeing organized at the First Baptist Church of Raeford. This program is to b? for all Baptist citizens in the Raeford un, even though they are not members of the Raeford church. The club will begin Thursday at 4 p.m. Meetings will involve opportunities for fellowship, refreshments, programs, both of religious and secular nature and special devotional programs by the pastor at each meeting. All older Baptist citizens are invited to attend this fust organizational meeting. WITH OUR College Students Mary Lou Flowers of Raeford is touring with the Livingstone College Concert Choir on its annual spring tour March 19 through April 1. The group will give 12 concerts in seven states and the District of Columbia during the tour with concert stops scheduled at Richmond, Va.; Washington D.C.; Wilmington, Del; Burlington, NJ.; Jersey City, NJ.; Bridgeport, Conn.; Peekskill, N.Y.; Jamestown, N.Y.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Toledo, Ohio; York, Pa.; and Pittsburg, Pa. Matherly of 204 E. Ed in bo rough Avenue, is now doing student teaching at Forest Hill Elementary School in Burlington. Miss Matherly is taking part during the spring quarter, beginning March 10 through May 27, in the student teaching program of Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C. In this program, students devote approximately twelve weeks to student teaching in the field for which they have been preparing. Miss Matherly is teaching second grade under the supervision of Mrs. Carolyn Williams. As part of the teaching program, the Appalachian student usually lives in the community near the school and participates in community activities as well as school activities. The student devotes full time in the school and gradually takes over the full teaching load, always under the supervision of the teacher and the principal. Miss Matherly graduated from Hoke County High School in 1967. Youth Singers Give Musical The Sandhills Youth Singers, about 75 teenagers from churches of the Sandhills Baptist Association, will present the Christian folk musical about God, "Tell It Like It Is," at the Cameron Morrison School in Hoffman Sunday at 3 p.m. The singers presented the musical last weekend to over 800 persons at two performances at the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen. The Sandhills Baptist Association is composed mostly of churches in Moore County but also includes Ashley Heights. Mrs. Edmond T. Geer, Jr. is the director. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Solomon entertained approximately fifty out of town relatives on the occasion of the birth of their son, Andrew Mark, on March 8. The celebration, known as a briss. falls on the eighth day after the male infant's birth and commemorates his circumcision by which he is initiated into the Covenant of Abraham, an age old tradition among those of the Jewish faith. Special honors are designated at this time. Tire baby's godmother, Jacquelyn Sugar, is the sister of Mrs. Solomon, while the godfather, Steven Solomon, is the brother of Mr. Solomon. The title of honorary godfather was bestowed upon Israel Mann. The baby's Hebrew name is also given at the briss. Dr. firnest Brown and Dr. Hobart Meyer Jr. of Lumberton and Rabbi Henry L'cko of FayetteviUe officiated at the briss. Brunch was served at the Solomon home on College Drive to the many relatives who came from various parts of North and South Carolina. The centerpiece on the main table consisted of a large arrangement of yellow spider chrysanthemums and purple irises, while a table in the adjoining room was adorned with an arrangement of blue and white carnations.
