Ropp-Gaskin Wedding Held Saturday ft MRS. JOHN CONWA Y ROPP. JR. r NEW SHIPMENT In Time For Easter HATS by Lady Bird STRAW PASTELS & WHITES $5#0to$10#0 Collins Department Store .MAIN STREET 'Miss Linda Lorraine Gaskin became the bride of John Conway Ropp Jr. on Saturday afternoon, April .3, at Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John C. Ropp, father of the groom, officiated, assisted by the Rev. James D. Hatch, pastor of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lanier Gaskin of Cayce, and the bridegroom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. John C. Ropp of Raeford. They are both recent graduates of Erskine College. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an A ? line empire design gown of white silk organza, enhanced with reembroidered Alencon lace over delicate pink satin ribbon. It featured Juliette sleeves, high neckline and a detachable chapel train. Her fingertip veil, designed and made by Mrs. John C. Blackburn, was of three tiered bridal illusion, attached to a band of reembroidered lace ornamented with hand - made organza rose and petals. She carried a cascade of white roses centered with a white orchid. Miss Nancy Gaskin, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Her dress was of pink chiffon, fashioned with a modified empire waistline. The high neckline, bodice and sleeves were of white reembroidered lace. Bridesmaids were the Misses Cecelia and Miriam Ropp, sisters of the bridegroom; Miss Paula Foster of Spartanburg, S.C., Miss Mary Wilson of Gastonia, classmates of Miss Gaskin at Erskine College; and Miss Cathy Holloman of Newberry College and Cayce. They wore gowns identical to that of the maid of honor. The attendants all carried cascade bouquets of shaded pink daisies with pink satin looped streamers. Their headpieces, also designed by Mrs. Blackburn, were handmade pink chiffon roses. The ushers were Torrence Shealy, cousin of the bride and Sidney Bryson, both from Clinton, S.C., Mitchell Merritt and Robby McBryde of Conway, S.C., and Buster Mobley of Lancaster, S.C. Bobby Ropp was his brother's best man. Miss Danielle Hook, cousin of the bride, furnished the wedding music. Special music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Wes Flinn of Erskine College. A reception was held, following the ceremony, in the fellowship hall of the church. For traveling, the bride was dressed in a white - trimmed pink ensemble of polyester, with white accessories and the orchid lifted from her bouquet. After a wedding trip to Virginia, the couple will reside in Columbia until the fall when Mr. Ropp will enter the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. The rehearsal party was hosted by the Rev. and Mrs. John C. Ropp, and given in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Reynolds in Columbia. The bridesmaids' luncheon was given by Mrs. Dan J. Hook on Danwood Drive in West Columbia. Bridal Luncheon For Miss Cothran Mrs. Talmadge Bobbitt and Mrs. Daniel Wright honored Miss Cothran and her bridesmaids with a luncheon on Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Wright on Route 1, Raeford. Miss Cothran presented her attendants with a string of pearls to complete their wedding attire. The hostesses presented the bride ? elect with a gift of china in her chosen pattern. Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Clark spent several days last week in Morehead. Post Rehearsal Party Alter the wedding rehearsal on Saturday, the bridegroom's parents entertained the wedding party, families and out of town guests with an informal hour at their home on Route 1, Raeford. BRIDGE Mrs. King Mrs. Julian H. King entertained her bridge club Tuesday night at 8 o'clock with one visitor, Mrs. Larry Upchurch.
