<2<MZiajEl Birthdays Noel Jones Noel Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Jones, was given a party Saturday to celebrate her fourth birthday. Circus time was theme for the party decorations and guests received happy birthday pins, bubble gum, horns and Creepy Crawlers. Guests, Ashley Jones, Linda Glisson, Amy Black, Joe and Laura Barrington, Johnny and Alan Harris and Missy Jones, were served birthday cake, potato chips, cookies, cheese tid - bits and punch. Barbara Douglas Mr. and Mrs. James E. Douglas surprised their daughter Barbara with a hamburger cookout Saturday night on her 14th birthday. Thirty guests attended and each guest presented Miss Douglas with a birthday gift. Baker's Dozen All members were present for the Baker's Dozen Bridge Club last Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Jerry Williams. Mrs. John Biddix was co - hostess. Cokes and dessert were served before play and snacks during progressions. Prizes went to Mrs. Doug Wallace for club high score and to Mrs. Bob Kilby for runner ? up. Oliver-Schell Mr and Mrs. Joe Schell announce the marriage of their daughter, Catherine Jo, to Larry Thomas Oliver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Lawrence Oliver of Greensboro, on May I. at the Baptist Church in C ullowhee. The Rev. Ted Purcell officiated. Miss Virginia Mode of Shelby was the bride's attendant and Robert Wayne Tucker of Greensboro was best man. Ushers were Roger Dale Harold of Winston - Salem and Brent Alva Garvin of Easley, SC. f ollowing the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained with a reception in the church fellowship hall. The newlyweds are making their home in Greensboro. L es ler Recitals Pupils of Mrs. T.B Lester presented piano programs on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 UO at her home on W. Donaldson Ave. Each student rendered six selections. Prince-Johnson Vows Spoken On May 1 MRS. ROSALD KARl. PRIXCt: The wedding of Miss Marcia Ann Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald J. Johnson of Chesterland, Ohio, and Ronald Earl Prince, son of Mrs. Eugene E. Angstadt of Raeford, and Willie E. Prince of Tappahannock, Virginia, took place Saturday, May 1, at 7:30 o'clock at John F. Kennedy Chapel, Ft. Bragg. Double ring vows were pledged with Father Joseph S. Cusma officiating. Wedding muscians were Mrs. J.H. Austin, organist, and Charles Hottel, soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of Venise lace banding used with tucked beauganza on the demi ? waist, full skirt with matching removable train attached at the waistline. Her elbow - length illusion veil was held by a Juliet cap of orange blossoms. She carried a cascade bouquet of white sweetheart roses and baby's breath. Miss Patricia Johnson was her sister's maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Andrea Johnson of Chesterland, Ohio and Mrs. James Ramsey of Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, sisters of the bride. They wore formal gowns of blue beauganza designed similar to the bride's gown and carried cascade bouquets of blue and yellow daises with matching streamers. Wendy Webb of Fayettevillc was flower girl. Mr. Prince attended his son as best man. Ushers were Michele E. Prince of Chapel Hill, and Samuel O. Prince of Raeford, brothers of the groom; Eugene E. Angstadt of Raeford, step - father of the groom, and Paul Johnson of Chesterland, Ohio, brother of the bride. A reception was given by the brides parents at Main Post Officers Club at Ft. Bragg, following the ceremony. Following a wedding trip to Lake Waccamaw, the newly - weds are residing in Fayetteville. The bride is a 1970 graduate of Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital School of Nursing, Cleveland, Ohio. She is employed at Womack Army Hospital, Ft. Bragg. Mr. Prince is a 1^66 graduate of Hoke High School and is now employed by Knit * Away in Racford. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Stanaland, Mr. and Mrs. V.P. Stanland of Ash, N.C.. Angstadt were hosts for a dinner at their home on East Prospect Avenue following the rehearsal Friday evening. Mrs. J.M. Gatlin-W ilson mmM Miss Bonnie Elizabeth Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Philip Wilson of Naples, Florida and Columbus, Ohio, and Harold Norwood Gatlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion H. Gatlin of Raeford, were married April 8 at the Collier County Courthouse. Judge Lynne D. Hixon officiated for the double ring vows. Monday, April 12, the blessing of the marriage was held at Trinity - By - The - Cove Episcopal Church in Naples, officiated by the Rev. Ernst L. Bennett. Parents of the bridal couple and close friends attended the blessing. Following the ceremony, a reception was held by the bride's parents at their winter home in Naples. The couple is at home at 1561 Chesapeake Ave., Apt 6, Naples, Fla., after a wedding trip to Miami and the Florida Keys. The bride has a B.A. degree in Art Education from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, and is presently completing work on thesis for a Master of Fine Arts in Jewelry Design from Bowling Green. Mr. Gatlin attended UNC - CH and was graduated from Campbell College with a B.A. degree in English. Both bride and groom teach in the Collier County School System, Florida. Allendale-A ntioch Ruritan Club Holds Meeting The Allendale ? Antioch Ruritan Club held its regular meeting Monday night, May 10, 1971, with 1007c membership and two visitors present. The visitors were David Olive from from the Philadelphus Club and Joe Gregory, Agricultural Engineer, Carolina Power and Light Co. Maxton, who was the speaker of the evening. Sandhills Christian Women's Club Mrs. Darlcnc Swanson. concert pianist and former movie star, will be the featured speaker and musician for the luncheon meeting of The Sandhills Christian Women's Club at noon on May 19th, at The Country Club of North Carolina. Darlenc Janzen Swanson began giving concerts at the age of sixteen, later receiving her degree in Music from Pasadena College. Under the influence of Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans, she dedicated her life to Christian Service and toured 22 countries as a speaker and musician. She later lived in Hawaii where she was music director of a radio station. Presently she is active with Youth Development Inc. and is vice president of Metropolitan Youth For Christ. She was associated with the Billy Graham New York Crusade and in 1969 helped organize over 5.000 daily prayer meetings for this crusade. Each year she assists with the Congressional Wives Breakfast in Washington, when the First Lady is always a special guest. Mrs. Swanson composed the theme song. "If My People" which is now used for this event. The special feature will be "Sew and Show" presented by Mrs. W.J. Morgan of Sandhills Community College.
