Boyfriend Seeks Advice
In Seducing Young Girl
Dear Mrs. Riggsbee:
I am 18 years old and I have
been going with this 16 year
old girl for a year. We haven't
had sexual intercourse yet. She
says she loves me, but does not
want to have sexual contact.
Everytime we are alone, I make
continuous attempts, but she
always stops me and 1 am
getting tired of it.
Can you tell me a way to
change her mind? If vou have a
pamphlet on the "Hot Spots"
of a woman, would you please
send it to me. I would
appreciate it very much and I
think it might help my
problem.
Mr. C
Dear Mr. C.:
You have got to be putting
me on! However, if you're not,
your first problem is that you
have written to the wrong
person for advice on seducing
your 16 year old girlfriend. I
must say I admire her
stubbornness in holding out,
but 1 question her judgment in
continuing to go with you
when it seems obvious that you
are after only one thing. Did it
ever occur to you that she
might be tired of your
"continuous attempts" to have
intercourse?
The "new morality" accepts
relationships between adults if
both partners agree. You flunk
on two counts: neither you nor
your girlfriend is adult, and she
doesn't agree.
If your girlfriend has held
out this long, she must have
pretty strong reasons fordoing
so. My advice to you,
therefore, is to respect her
wishes. Even if you wear down
her resistance, it is likely she
would resent you for causing
her to do something that is
against her convictions.
Speaking of convictions, your
gulfriqnd is of a tender age ?? if
you persist, you could possibly
find yourself involved with the
civil or criminal laws of the
state in which you live.
Dear Gloria:
I am 54 years old. My
periods [Stopped in November,
1969, for 1)3 months until
December, 1970, when I had
another completely normal
period. I went to our family
surgeon for a physical
examination and a pap smear.
He told me everything was OK
and he could not find any
abnormality. He said he felt
like 1 just had another
ovulation left in my body and
that this was it.
Six months have passed and
1 have had no more periods. Do
you think I still could'become
pregnant? 1 certainly would
not want it to happen at my
age, for the risk would be too
great. When 1 asked the doctor,
he just laughed and said he
could not guarantee that I
would not get pregnant. Would

PREGNANCY PLANNING
AND HEALTH
by
Mrs. Gloria Riggsbee
appreciate an answer, for some
of my friends have similar
problems.
Mrs. F.
Dear Mrs. F.:
As your doctor has told you,
no one can guarantee that you
won't get pregnant. Ordinarliy,
doctors advise women to
continue to use birth control
for at least one year or as much
as two years after their last
period (even if that last period
was very short and lasted only
a day or two). In your case,
since you did have a normal
period after a 13 month
absence of menstruation, you
probably should figure on
using a reliable method of birth
control for another 12 months.
If nothing else happens, this
will mean you will have gone a
full 18 months without a
period and you should be safe
after that time. As I am sure
vou know, it is very important
that you continue to see your
doctor for a physical
examination and a pap smear
at least once a year even after
vou have gone through your
change of life (menopause).
A NOTE TO READERS:
This column is now running in
quite a few different areas and
it is becoming increasingly
difficult for me to list the
times and locations for family
planning clinics id each
separate area. If you would like
to know where you may obtain
family planning services in
your particular town or
county, please let me know
and I will send you this
information. Write to: Mrs.
Gloria Riggsbee, 214 Cameron
