To New Built Hoke County Rescue Squad accepted the completion of their new building from the contractor and moved in Saturday, August 14. The contractor, Davis and McCullen of Fayetteville, had turned in a low bid of $18,875. Bill Parker, squad commander says, "The official dedication of the rescue home will be held in mid ? September during "Rescue Week" which is annually set aside by the governor of North Carolina to pay tribute to the work being done by volunteer rescue squadsmen across the state." The rescue building will be used for official business of the squad only and can not be leased to individuals or clubs. However, the commander emphasizes in explaining the squad policy, "Any group or club wishing a private tour of the rescue facilities may arrange this by calling myself or any of the squad officers." The new brick building located on Adams Street will house all squad vehicles, equipment and serve as a meeting place for training. Parker, in describing the floor plans says, 'These particular rescue squad home specifications were drawn by officer* of |he squad. ft will hold throe vehicles end two boots, in addition then is * lane storage room, rest room and a kitchen - assembly room across the back. The assembly room has heat and ah condition." In constructing for the future, - we can add one additional vehicle and boat, as at present there are only two vehicles and one boat- Also, some yean from now the assembly room can ->be partitioned off for team members to spend the night or weekend. Financial Standings The Hoke County Rescue Squad, Inc. at present has a note at the Bank of Raeford for $1,200. for the 1971 truck which is being paid annually by United Fund contributions. It will be paid off next August and the 1969 station wagon will be replaced with a new one and every two years afterwards. Another note at the Southern National bank covers the $16,000. loan of the building with a $4,200. payment due March 1, 1972. A public appeal thru WSHB and The News - Journal by law enforcement and community leaders raised $4,000. during the construction. At present there is s deposit to the Building Fund savings account of $1300. Commander Parker say* '1 feel the (quad is in excellent shape at this time, however, we have planned for the future and will need continued public support. Several suppers will be held this fall ana there is a county and town appropriation to aid in paying the bflis. Should anyone be interested in sending a check, the sauad is registered with federal and state as non - taxable and all funds can be taken off when filing annual income tax forms.
