The uncertainties of dealing

explorers Ronnie Ellis. Wanda

Other characters in the play,

helped the story along.
The play was part of a series
of group projects to help give
greater meaning to the
textbook lessons on Southeast

the projects in the social
studies classes of Jerry
Oxendine and Mrs. Ida Cole.
The students, asked their
opinion, enthusiastically
supported group work over
individual projects. They could
divide the work, use each
others ideas, work as a team
and make different friends,
they said.
As for the play, the critics'
response was mixed. The play
could have been longer, the
seventh graders said. But on
the plus side, they
complimented the actors for
knowing their parts and for
their imaginative costumes.
