Rockflsh News by Mn. A. A. Mclnnli Way tide Grange meet* at the Community Building Friday night. September 29 at 7 o'clock. Starting with a "covered ? dish " supper at seven, followed by an important business session. Ail members are urged to be present, and don't forget to do something for the supper. The general meeting of the W.M.U. of Tabernacle Church was held at the church Monday night. The officers for the coming year were installed at the general meeting of the Women of Galatia Church Sunday night. The Training Union of Tabernacle Church had a picnic supper at the R. H. Hut Saturday evening with very good attendance, estimated at about 30. The Homecoming at Parker Church last Sunday was a success in every way. Attendance was good, the outdoor picnic dinner was all that could be desired and best of all getting to see kinfolks and friends once again after so long a time. The speaker for the day was the pastor of the church, the Rev. Gordon Ruggles, of Raeford. This was the first Homecoming in this area but it won't be the last. They will be from now on to the 4th Sunday in October. Miss Mary Priest and her brother, Walter Priest, attended the Homecoming at Old Bethesda Church at Aberdeen last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Will Monroe spent Sunday and Sunday night with Mrs. Monroe's sister. Mrs. Garnet Emory of Durham, returning home late Monday p.m. County Commlsiioner T. C. Jones entered the Sanatorium at McCain on Monday of lait week. He came home Thursday and stayed until Sunday afternoon when he returned to the Sanatorium and was still a patient there the first of this week. Mrs. Julian Barnes spent the past weekend with Mr. and Mrs. John Haywood of Troy. Mrs. Haywood is Julian Barnes' sister. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gibson of Richmond, Va., came last Friday and stayed until Wednesday of this week with his mother. Mrs. R. H.Gibson, Mrs. R. V. Tanner and Mrs. Henry Fowler and daughter, Kathy Mrs. Mary K Francis and her son - in ? law and daughter, Mr, and Mrs. Richard Franklin of Miami, Fla., visited Mrs. Wallace McLean of Raeford and Mrs. J. E. Wood and Mrs. Martin Wood last week. Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson spent some time the first of last week with her sister, Mrs. Virginia Bounds of Red Springs, who is a patient at Moore Memorial Hospital. The past weekend, Mrs. Gibson spent with her sister, Mrs. W. H. Schell of Lumber Bridge and together they visited Mrs. Bounds at Moore Memorial Hospital Sunday. Mrs. Grover McDonald, Mrs. Sue McLean and Mrs, Lonnie Smith of Maxton were guests of Mrs. N. J. Ritter on Tuesday of last week. Roy Shockley has just returned from a visit to his brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Shockley of Washington, D. C. He also visited friends in Maryland while on thil trip. Mn. Wallace McLean of Raeford, Mrs. Mary Francis and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Franklin and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Johnson of Miami, Fla., were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood last Wednesday evening. Mrs. Francis and Mr and Mrs. Franklin spent most of their time while here with Mr. and Mrs. Wood. Miss Annie Ray was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Ray and Thomas Ray Sunday which is news because it is so unusual. Miss Lillie Wood, Mrs. A. W. Wood and Mrs. Alfred Berry were dinner guests of Mrs. A. A. Mclnnis last Wednesday and that was something unusual, too. Mrs. Bobby Powell and daughter, Cindy of Robbins, spent last week with her mother, Mrs. Dewey Sessoms. Mrs. Cecil McKeithan's sister, Mrs. Glenn Grubbs and son Darrick of Cheraw, S. C., spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. McKeithan and children Greg and Susan. Mr. and Mrs. MacRay's first wedding anniversary was celebrated Monday with a dinner at their home with his mother, Mrs. Gilbert Ray and his sister, Kathy, and brothers, Gene, Bobby and David. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ray and may they have many, many more happy anniversaries. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bundy and children Michael and Lynne and Mrs. Bundy's parents Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gray visited her grandmother Mrs. 0. H. Parton of Morganton Sunday. Robert Wood and Buddy Stephens went fishing at Surf City. They went late Sunday evening and fished Monday, but according to the report on their trip they had "no luck." Alfred Berry and his son - in ? law Frank Sojka went to Carolina Beach for fishing Friday and Saturday and they had good luck ami caught a good many fish Bui don't be too proud and crow too loud" Mr. Berry and Mr. Sojka, Mr. Wood and Mr. Stephens may get the fish next time. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Brown of Raleigh visited Mr. and Mrs E. T. Brock Sunday p.m. then went to visit Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bundy. They had supper with Mr. and Mrs Bundy and spent Sunday night with them. They were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Brock before returning home Monday p.m. Mrs. Leak Amnions and daughter. Debbie, of Fayetteville spent the past weekend with her sister. Mrs. Walter Brock and Mr Brock. Mrs. Brock was not feeling well because she had a bad cold the first of this week. Reunion The Pittman Family Reunion was held at Pittmaii Grove Church Sunday before list with most of the Pittman families present. They had a picnic dinner, and the fellowship with relatives was good. Their special guests were the pastor of the church and his wife the Rev and Mrs. E. C. Taylor of Lumber Bridge. Long live the Pittman family and may they have many more reunions when all of them can be present. Mr. and Mrs. Harold ("am were guests of Mi. and Mrs. M. S. Gibson and children. Joy and Ricky, and Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson Sunday night M. S. Gibson attended the Duke ? Stanford football game Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pottet of Goldsboro visited his parents the past weekend. So rry. Mr. Duncan McCraney's birthday was not reported last week, but he-did have a birthday Sunday before last and it was celebrated by his family. Many more happy birthdays to you. Mr McCraney. Mrs. Hugh Overton, her sister Mrs. Otis Jackson and her daughter Mrs. Ruel Johnson went to visit Mrs. Martha Brown of Charlotte Saturday and brought Mrs. Brown back with them to spend this week with Mrs. Overton and other relatives. Mrs. Nelia Brock got home last Friday after spending about 2 weeks with Mrs. Nicholas Chandler of Fayetteville. Herbert Long of Sneads Ferry visited Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Long last Friday. Mr and Mrs. Long returned home Monday after spending the weekend with his sister Mrs. Louise Watson and other lelatives. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mclnnisof Raeford spent Saturday night and Sunday with her lather T. G. Wood. Mr. and Mrs. James F. Mclnnis of Fayetteville were dinner guests of Thomas Mclnnis and his mother Sunday. Mrs. Henry Fowler had a telephone call from her daughter Carol, a student at Western Carolina University Sunday night and she was getting along fine. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Long of Sneads Ferry were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Dees last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hobson and son. David of Coats, visited his patents Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Hohson Saturday. Mi. and Mi?. Linwood Huffman and children Kim. Chris and Jell and Miss Delia Blue atterded the Homecoming at Parker Church with Mr. and Mrs. Hobson Sunday. Mrs. Leila Barefoot was admitted to Cape Fear Valley Hospital as a patient Monday Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Putinan went home with their children who live in Fli/jbcth City, after they attended the Pittman Family Reunion Sunday before last and spent all last week at Elizabeth City. Mrs. W. |>. Parker of Aberdeen spent Friday night and Saturday with Mrs Mela Parker and Saturday night with Mrs. Gus Parker, returning home Sunday afternoon. Mrs. C. M. Allison had as her goest the past weekend her sistei. Mrs. D R. Wilson >.f Garner. Debra Allison of Raleigh also spent the weekend with her mother. Mrs. Allison and her brother Davis Allison and attended the Homecoming at Parker Church. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pluimner and their daughter Becky attended the Homecoming but none of their other chrldien were present. Mrs. Marshall Newton visited Miss l.essie Martin. Mr. and Mis. Charles Rozicr and Mi and Mis. Kd Brisson of Si. Pauls Sunday. Mr. and Mis. Brisson and children. Lisa and Jeffrey, have recently moved back to St. Pauls Supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. t. B Newton and children, Cathy and Marshall. Sunday were Mr. and Mrs Roy Baker of Asheboro. J. W. Caddell of Raeford visited his cousin Katie Caddell in Laurinburg one day last week. All of the children and grandchildren of Mr. and Mis Joe Lovette were here for the Homecoming at Parker Church last Sunday They were Mrs. Vamik Bombatcpe and sons.
