The meeting of the Bible Study Group was postponed until Monday Sept. 10th. Attendance at some of the churches the past Sunday was not very good on account of it being Labor Day weekend, and many people maybe getting their last chance at the beach. Mrs. Lee reports from the Rockflsh Family Care Home that all the residents an well and doing fine now. Mrs. Donald Wood visited the Rockflsh Family Care Home Monday and presented them with some beautiful roses, which Mrs. Jesse Lee and all the residents of the home appreciated very much. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Long and Mrs. R.H. Edge visited Mrs. David Koonce and her sister Mrs. Dan Bradshaw of Fayetteville Monday afternoon. Mrs. Koonce and Mrs. Bradshaw were very glad to see them. Mrs. Nelia Brock spent the weekend with her daughter Mrs. Hthel Carver and her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Lambert of Fayetteville, at Sunaet Harbor Beach. Mrs. Brock reported, *e had a fine time. Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Bullard and children spent the past weekend at Carolina Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lee and his father Malcolm Lee and his granddaughter Carol Ann Lee, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Barefoot spent the past weekend at Pine Bluff Park on the Nuse River. Mr. and Mrs. Worthy Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. Seavy Andrews and their sister Mrs. Alene Moffett of Asheboro visited Mr. and Mrs. Will Monroe Sunday. The Andrews men and Mr. Monroe visited T.G. Wood while the ladies stayed with Mrs. Monroe Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McColl and children Dianne, Tom Jr. Kim and Kevin spent the past weekend in the mountains of Western North Carolina. They first went to Statesville, then got on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Blowing Rock, they went on to Asheville, where they visited Mrs. McColl's aunt Mrs. Clinton Robertson and daughter Nancy ofSwannanoa Then they went to Spontana Dam and to Hendersonville, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. James Crawford. Then after they could find no placc to stop and stay they got home late Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scroch of Jacksonville visited Mrs. S.N. McColl Sunday p.m. Mrs. Scroch is Mrs. McColl's granddaughter, the former Carolyn Forbis of Lumber Bridge. Other guests of Mrs. S.N. McColl Sunday afternoon were Mr, and Mrs. Laurin McColl of Red Springs and Mr. and Mrs. Butch Posey and daughter Christi of Route No. 2 Raeford. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Wood and daughter Deborah of Thomasville came last Saturday and stayed until Monday afternoon with his mother Mrs. A.W. Wood. Sorry Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Monroe were Woods in last weeks news. My mistake. I guess, but maybe he didn't care since his mother was a Wood, and I he U half Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith of Plnehunt were gueau of Mrs. Floyd Monroe last Friday. He also visited his sister Mrs. Max Ray and Mr. Ray and had dinner with them, while Mrs. Smith stayed with her sister Mrs. Monroe and had dinner and rested for the ride home since she is not right well. Other guests of Mrs. Floyd Monroe last Friday were Mrs. M.D. Gillis Jr. and her daughter Mrs. James McKethan and son James Gillis of Fayettevllle. Mrs. J.D. Mclnnis and son John David Mclnnit of Wagram visited her sitter Mrs. Mary Mclnnis and son Thomas last Friday p.m. Mrs. Johnny Allen and daughters Sandra, Shirley and Teresa of Charleston. S.C., spent the past weekend with her mother, Mrs. R.H. Gibson. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mclnnis of Raeford spent Saturday night and Sunday with her father T.G. Wood. Their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mclnnis of Whiteville visited with them there. After visiting his parents and his grandfather T.G. Wood Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mclnnis spent a while Sunday p.m. with his grandmother Mrs. A. A. Mclnnis and his uncle Thomas Mclnnis. Mrs. Wflton Capps visited her aunt Miss Bessie Cameron at St. Joseph's Hospital and while there she learned that Mrs. Maude Rosser widow of the late Dr. Rosser, was a patient there too. Dr. and Mrs. Rosser were residents of Rockfish years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Hobson were among those from Wayside who attended funeral services Monday for Mrs. Florence Hatcher at Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville. Mrs. Hatcher was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hobson. Miss Donnie Barefoot visited her mother, Mrs. Cleveland Barefoot at Confederate Women's Home Fayetteville Sunday. Mrs. Barefoot had accidentally fallen and was slightly injured but she was doing very well at that time. Mrs. Clara F.verett and her daughter, Mrs. Carl Holt spent the past weekend in the mountains. They must have been looking for a cool place. Mrs. Will Wood of Lake Rim spent some time with her sister Miss Annie Ray, while Mrs. K.verett and her daughter Mrs. Holt were away from home. Mrs. W.H. Schell of Lumber Bridge came and look her sister Mrs. Fthel D. Gibson home with her for dinner and in the afternoon they visited Mrs. Virginia Bounds of Red Springs, their sister, who has surgery and had been home from the hosoital two weeks. She was not completely well but. she was doing O.K. Mr. and Mrs. June Rogers and sons Keith and Craig spent Monday at White Lake and they had a very pleasant day. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Ray and son Thomas, on Labor Day were their granddaughter Mrs. Pat Pollard of Ayden, Mrs. Steve Fvans and a friend Jinks McKeithan of Greenville. Many of their friends and relatives called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bundy last Sunday afternoon celebrating their Silver Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Will Wood of Lakerim and Miss Annie Ray were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. A A. Ray and son Thomas last Sunday at noon. Mrs. Doc Truelove, who had heart surgery at Duke Hospital Durham last week has been reported doing well since the surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Smith Mclnnis were among those from Raeford who attended Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bundy's Silver Wedding celebration at their home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lovette of Wayside had as their weekend guest, Mrs. Port Gibson of Gibson, who taught School at Rockfish, when she was Miss Meta Gibson and she has the reputation of having been a very good teacher. Miss Becky Plummer left Monday for Wayne Community College, Goldsboro. Steve Plummer left Wednesday for Appalachain University Boone, where he was a student last year and the year before. Club Meets Rockfish Extension Homemakers Club did meet last week but it was just for a short time at the community house at eleven o'clock last Wednesday a.m. For they were "taking off" to Ballentines Cafeteria in Fayetteville to have dinner there instead of the annual August picnic here. So off they went in good spirits everyone, taking only enough cares for 13 club members who went. And soon they were >t Ballenline's Cafeteria, where they had a table long enough for all to sit together. The food was very good. No ore monopolized the conversation but all chatted in a happy mood. As they enjoyed the food. When the lunch or luncheon as some people would ay although it really was a dinner, w>?nr some of the ladies went Stopping while others tat and watched the passers-by until the time to com* home. And so ended the clubs summer vacation, "on a happy note."
