Lyle - Hales Wedding Held December
Miss Edna Sue Hales, daughter or Mr.
and Mrs. William Hales of Raeford, and
Ronnie Joe Lyle, son of the Rev. and
Mrs. Joseph Lyle of Dallas, were
married Saturday, December 1, at 7:00
pjn. at the Church of God of Prophesy.
The Rev. AJ. Coalter officiated.
Lester Southern presented a program
of wedding music.
The church was decorated with three
seven-branched candelabra and two
floor baskets filled with mixed white
flowers. The bride was given in
marriage by her father and mother. She
wore a white satin gown fashioned with
ruffled neckline, long sleeves with wide
cuffs, and lace panels on the dress front
scams and around the hem. Her
two-tiered veil and double-layer train
were edged with lace, and she carried a
Colonial bouquet of white sweetheart
roses centered with a white orchid. The
bride's gown was designed by her
mother.
The maid of honor, Brenda Kay King,
wore a green crushed velvet dress and
white fur tam muff. Bridesmaids, who
wore red crushed velvet dresses with
white fur tams and muffs, were Carolyn
White, Jane Andrews and Diane Hinson.
Sharon Kay Harden was junior
bridesmaid and Daren Ray Harden was
junior usher.
Larry Biddy served as best man and
ushers were Jack Biddy of Gastonia, and
Alton Burrow and Wayne White of
' Raeford.
Following the ceremony the bride's
parents entertained with a reception at
the Hoke Civic Center.
Helga Graham greeted guests and Mrs.
Dreema Biddy presided at the guest
register.
Brenda Kay King and Helga Graham
served cake.
The newlyweds will make their home
in Dallas, N.C.

Saturday evening, women employees
at The News-Journal had their
Christmas party at 6:30 at the home of
Mrs. Marty Jones at Dundarrach.
A gold arrangement with five red
candles and green and gold garlands
centered the serving table for the
covered dish supper. Three small tables
were spread with holiday cloths and
decorated with red candles encircled
with holly.

Green and white foliage and white
ornaments around a Madonna were used
on the TV in the living room and a
wreath made of evergreens and assorted
Christmas candies decorated the
kitchen.
After supper the group exchanged
small g^ts.
BRIDGE
Mrs Vann
Mrs. Eric Vann entertained with a
Christmas party for her bridge club
members Tuesday night at her home on
College Drive.
A large Christmas wreath was hung
over the fireplace and lighted candles
were used in the home. The hostess
served cranberry punch, "surprise
biscuits", ham kabobs, cocoanut cake
and assorted hors d'oeuvres.
After refreshments were served,
guests exchanged gifts which had been
arranged around a miniature Christmas
tree on the buffet.
High score for the evening was won
by Mrs. F. D. Hornaday, second-high by
Mrs. Frank Parks, and consolation by
Mrs. Jim Magarahan.

daughter, Hilda Anne, to Stanley John
Bukowski of Philadelphia, Pa. son of
Stanley John Bukowski and the late
Mrs. Bukowski. Their \ows will be
spoken at Emmanuel Episcopal Church
in Southern Pines, on January 27, 1974.
Eastern Star
Honors Leaders
Raeford Chapter No. 226, Order of
the Eastern Star, held a stated meeting
Monday, December 10, at the Masonic
Temple
Mrs. Lillian Wood, Assoc. Matron,
was presented a holiday corsage from
the Chapter for her birthday
After the regular meeting, a special
program entitled "Foot Prints", was
held to honor Past Matrons and Past
Patrons. The honorees were Mmes.
Lillian Wood, Ethel Hayes, Maggie Jane
McBryde, Nell Averitte, Mary Tapp,
Thelma McPhaul and Messrs. Glenn
Wood and A. Hinton McPhaul. Each one
was given a small shoe filled with
flowers in the 5 emblematic colors.
A social hour was held in the dining
room where the table was decorated
with foot prints in the five colors and
two feather Christmas trees.
Sandwiches, cheese, chips, dainty
sweets, nuts and coffee were served.
Refreshment committee hostesses
were Mmes. Isabel Maxwell and Justine
Plummer.

Attend Christening
Mr. and Mrs. Lamon Bruner and Jerry
of Antioch, Lindsay NeSl of Durham
and Mr. and Mrs. Stevie McNeill and
Melody of Richmond. Va., were
weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Bruner and infant son, Luke, at
Trcvillians, Va. They all attended the
Christening of Luke Bruner held at St.
Pauls Episcopal Church in Ivy, Va. The
baby it the grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
Lamon Bruner, and his godparents are
Jerry Bruner, Lindsay Neill and Miss
Elizabeth Nolting.
After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs.
Fredrick Nolting, the baby's maternal
grandparents, were hosts for a luncheon
at their home in Charlottesville, Va.
Other relatives attending were from
Danville, Lynchburg and Farmville, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. William T. Niven spent the
weekend in Landover Hills, Md. with
her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. E.H.
Biggerstaff and children.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bamhart spent the
weekend in Gastonia with their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mr*.
Jack Burgess.
Mr. and Mrs. Canon Davis Jr. were in
Raleigh Friday and Saturday where they
joined friends from Brookneal, Va.
