4-H CORNER
By Brenda L. Abrams & Phil Ricks, County 4-H Agents
On March 12 at the Hoke County
Civic Center the Annual 4-H Awards
Night was held. Several awards and
certificates were presented. Next year
we hope to increase the number of
awards, but we can only present awards
to persons who turn in an acceptable
record book. We know many 4-H"ers
have excelled in their respective project
areas but did not keep accurate records.
We urge and encourage you to turn in
, your project record books in December
1974, so you will be eligible for an
award. a
Ribbons were awarded to all projects
turned in to the 4-H office. Several
yearly certificates were given to the
4-H'crs who have carried a particular
project for a minimum of one year.
There were two 4-H'ers who received
seven-year certificates. We also
recognized the individual club leaders
for their outstanding achievements with
a Certificate of Yearly Service. The 4-H
Junior Leaders were presented
certificates for their assistance. Leader
certificates were presented to Mrs.
Gertrude Bratcher. Mrs. Lewis Tyler,
Mrs. Harold Monroe, Mrs. Harry Teal,
Mr. Glenn Crissman and Mrs. Anna Bell
McLean. Junior leader certificates were
presented to Linda Croft, Venetta Leak,
Jennie Monroe, Ann Melton, Mary Ann
Leak, Bill Barnwell, Debbie McNeill,
Susan Croft, Lena Leak, Nadine Leak
and Robert Attaway.
This year we presented two new Gub
Charters. They were Lads and Lassies of
Harmony Heights and North Lakes
Stitch and Stir.
As a part of Awards Night the club

living with host families with the
