The Bible Study group of Tabernacle
Church met Monday a.m. with Mrs. Bill
Gibson at her home. The Mission in
Action group met Monday night with
Mrs. Louise Watson hostess at her home.
Guest speaker for the morning
worship service at Parker Church next
Sunday at 9:45 a.m. will be school
superintendent Raz Autry of Raeford.
The pastor of Parker Church will be
graduating from Duke University
Sunday. May 12.
Mrs. Floyd Monroe and Mrs. Marshall
Newton attended the morning worship
service at the Baptist Church in Raeford
Sunday with the Senior Citizens of
Raeford and Hoke County.
The Rev. William Beasley preached at
Pittman Grove Church Sunday morning.
The WMU of Pittman Grove Oiurch met
at the church Monday night.
Revival services are in progress at
Lake Rim Mission this week at 7:30
each night. Guest minister is the Rev.
Bill Pruitt.
Three new members were received at
Pittman Grove Church Sunday; one by
letter and two on profession of faith.
Mr. Fdgar Pittman. who was a patient
at Cape Fear Valley Hospital all last
week, had lung surgery there Monday
and he was doing Fine at last account.
Richard Gaddis. student at Pembroke
University, completed his years work
there this week and came home
Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Moore of
Greensboro visited her parents. Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Tillman and sons. Harold
and David, last Sunday and took David
home with them to spend the week.
Mrs. Will Wood of Fayettcville is
spending this week with her sisters. Miss
Annie Ray and Mrs. Clara Everett.
Alfred Berry and Riley Willis left
Tuesday, a.m., for Carolina Beach to go
fishing. How long they will stay depends
on the fish.
Mrs. Daniel Berry and children
Melissa and Janie and her father, Riley
Willis, visited her aunt and uncle Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Workman and
daughter, Rene, of Fayettcville Sunday.
Guests of Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson
Monday and Monday night were Mrs.
Virginia Bounds of Red Springs. Mrs.
Harry Fisher and daughter, Rhoda, of
Lois. Mrs. Fisher spent the night with
Mrs. Gibson and her daughter Rhoda
spent Monday night with Miss Sarah
McCallum of Fayetteville.
Mrs. Gibson visited her sister, Mrs. W.
H. Schell of Lumber Bridge Sunday and
her guests were Mr. and Mrs. A. J.
Freeman. Jr., of Fayetteville and Mrs.
Sid Sumner of Lumber Bridge.
Guests of Mr. and Mrs. James
Attaway and sons, Robert and James,
were Mr. and Mrs. Billy Chrisman of
Raleigh, cousins of Mrs. James Attaway,
and Mrs. Louise Chrisman of Kipling.
Mrs. Attaway who was hurt in an
automobile wreck near Fort Bragg
several weeks ago. got home from
Womack Army Hospital last Thursday.
She is doing as well as can be expected
after such a wreck. She is taking it
patiently, although some of the time she
lias not been able to talk because of a
facial injury, and it has been painful,
too. But, her mother, Mrs. R. W. Posey,
has been with her since she came home
and that has helped a lot.
Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bundy, Mr. and
Mrs. Wayne Bundy and children, Carl
and Dayne, spent the past weekend at
Surf City Beach.
John Ray Butner of California, a
cousin of Mis. James Attaway, called
Saturday to talk with Mrs. Attaway and
it was helpful to her to know that
people far away cared about her enough
to call.
Miss Mary Sessoms came Saturday
and is spending a few days this week
with Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Chason and
Larry.
Sorry Misses Allie and Katie Blacks
names were left out of the list of
persons who attended funeral services
for Henry J. Smith at Montpelier
Church last week, and interment at
Spring Hill Cemetery. The writer's
mistake. Their presence was appreciated
very much.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Long of Sneads
Ferry came Saturday and spent
Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday
night with his sister, Mrs. Louise
Watson.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Long visited Mr.
and Mrs. Alfred Long Sunday p.m. and
were their supper guests Monday night.
Mrs. Floyd Monroe's sister, Mrs. John
Baker, who was a patient at Duke
Hospital for many weeks, came to
Moore Memorial Hospital last week and
went home Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. LB. Bundy had as their
Sunday dinner guests. Mr. and Mrs. Fd
Bundy and daughter, Jenine, of
Lafayette Village.

Sunday afternoon were Mrs. Paul
McDonald and sons, Steve and Derrick
of l.umberton, Mrs. Minor Mcgougan,
and Mr. and Mrs. Larry McGougan of

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Monroe visited
their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Ronald Monroe, and son, Bryan, of
McCain, Sunday and their son, Joe
Allen Monroe of Southern Pines, and
Mrs. John Baker and Mrs. Myrtle
Laylon at Moore Memorial Hospital
Pinehurst Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Thomas McColl ays they have
talked to Mrs. S. N. McColl, wtio has
spent the winter with her daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Terry at
Fort Lauderdale, Fla? and Mrs. McColl
seems to be doing well and plans to

recent illness. Mr. Jones also visited his
niece, Mrs. James Jones, who had minor
surgery on one of her hands. She was
doing fine and about ready to come
home.
Mrs. Bessie Brock of Fayetteville
spent last Thursday night with Mr. and
Mrs. Stacy Hobson and Miss Delia Blue.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Black are now
living near Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Hobson.
Mrs. Black is Mrs. Hobson's half sister.
C. M. Chason, who works at Fort
Bragg, was at home Monday with a
throat infection.
Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McCraney
visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Y.
A. Lee of Fayetteville. Saturday. Her
brother, Y. A. Lec. was at home for the
day from the Sanatorium at McCain,
where he has been a patient for a week
or more. He was doing very well.
Mrs. Ronald Sillman and daughtersof
Ramseur were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Lonnic Smith of Puppy Creek the past
weekend and attended services at Parker
Church with them Sunday. They also
visited other relatives

Rockfish Family Care Home that they
have a new resident in the hofhe, Miss
Mary Ray of Route No. 3, Fayettcvillc.
Mrs. Ella Baxley who was a patient at
Southeastern Gcneran Hospital,
l.umberton, last week, came home
Monday. Mrs. Lee's sister, Mrs. Edna K.
Daniels is out of the hospital and
staying with Mrs. Lee's daughter, Mrs.
Connie Bunnell and family. Her mother
who was hospitalized at New Bern is
also at home. Mr. and Mrs. Lee and her
sister, Mrs. Daniels, attended a singing at
Whispering Pines Church Sunday night.
All the residents are well.

Mrs. Marshall Newton and Mrs. Floyd
Monroe attended the twenty-fifth
wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
Willie Haircloth at the Pokesbury
Methodist Church at Sledman. Sunday
afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McPherson and
children. Davis and Elizabeth, of
Yanceyville. came Friday and stayed
until Sunday p.m. with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Kirk Parker and other relatives.
While here they attended services at
Galatia Sunday a.m. and visited Misses
Allie and Katie Black. Mr. and Mrs.
Davis Parker and children. Karen and
Kirkland, Maj. and Mrs. D. B. Parker*
and children, Teresa Duncan and Joni.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Plummer were
much pleased to hear the past week that
their daughter, Becky Plummet, a
student at Wayne Community College,
Goldsboro, had made the honor roll for
the last quarter. Becky is in the
advanced degree nursing program.
Congratulations to Becky and her
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith Mclnnis visited
Mr. and Mrs. David Lancaster and
children, Brian and Jennifer, of Raleigh,
Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Freeman of
Raleigh and his mother, Mrs. A. J.
Freeman of Raeford, visited Mr. and
Mrs. Smith Mclnnis and Mrs. Jim
Maxwell after they got home from
church Sunday a.m. and before they got
off to Raleigh. Mrs. Maxwell went to
spend the afternoon with her
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Max Ray of Puppy Creek. Then, Mr.
and Mrs. Freeman went home with his
mother to be her dinner guests.
Frank Sojka of Fayetteville was a
dinner guest of his father-in-law, Alfred
Berry, and his brother-in-law, Oscar G.
Berry, Sunday.
Mrs. Dan Mclnnis who entered Moore
Memorial Hospital Sunday for minor
surgery Monday came home Tuesday.
Mrs. Floyd Monroe, Mrs. M. D. Gillis
and Mrs. Malcolm Gillis went on a
business trip to Raleigh Monday.

we realized how much good it does to
really be honest. If we are honest, we

weekend with her.

night. They attended Sunday school at
