GUEST SPEAKER - Burlington's Ron Bui lard is welcomed by DECA president
Donna Poe before delivering a speech to the Hoke High business students last
Thursday.
DECA News
By Andrew McEtchern
The Distributive Education class had
a guest speaker last Thursday.
Mr. Ron Bullard of the Dye Division
at Burlington Mills is the assistant
personnel manager.
Mr. Bullard spoke on several aspects
of looking for a job and taking an
interview. He informed the class of
Burlington's philosophy of selecting
people for jobs and promotions. He said
when a promotion comes up, they look
first for people within the company,
and then to outsiders. He also stated
what he would look for when
interviewing. He stressed dressing
properly, because the first impression
you make is usually the lasting one.
said when looking for a job be
businesslike, know something about the
business itself.
After Mr. Bullard's talk, the class
asked him questions.
Prior to Bullard's visit, the marketing
classes and DE class had been studying
how to take an interview. Each student
would take turns being interviewed.
After the interviews were completed in
the DE class, the class voted on who
took the best interview. Donna Poe was
the winner, and will go on to compete
against the winners of the two
marketing classes.
