Jaycee Gun Course Ends Sixty eight young people completed the Hoke County Jayoee Shooting Education program leal Saturday. The program consisted of a six week course Sr. Citizens The Raeford Senior Citieens Friendship Club will meet at the Raeford Methodist Church Tuesday, March 4 at 2:30 P.M. Each member is asked to bring a flower pot, a plastic bowl or a piece of pottery suitable for a hanging basket. Ma era me materials will be furnished. Each student completing the course was awarded a certificate and awards were presented to the top students. In the Over-All Awards 1st place was won by Lawrence Calloway, 2nd place went to Teddy Lock!ear and 3rd to Daniel Gaddis. The Shooting award, for highest score in the shooting match was also won by lawrence Calloway. The program was also used to help select 16 young people who will enter the Jaycees tryouts for the team to enter the Stale B.B. Gun Championship. The 16 young people selected on Saturday were: Terry Baxley, Randy Blackburn. Donald Calloway, Lawrence Calloway, Gilbert Cribbs. Jack Espegren, Gregory Fisher, Andy Krahm, Cindy Krahm, Daniel Gaddis, Tommy Graham, Teddy Locklear, Scott Sayer, Bill Sellars. Brenda Southern, and Alton White. The sixteen will go into four intensive instruction and practice sessions and then the seven team members for state competition will be chosen. The Hoke team will enter the N.C. B.B. Area Incidents Arrest Follows Driving A man reportedly driving a stolen car wis jailed on multiple charges Sunday after he allegedly rammed a trailer at an outlying mobile home park and later scuffled with police in Raeford. Guy Hard man, a Carolina Country resident, complained to sheriffs deputies at about 11 P.M. Sunday night a man had struck Hardman's mobile home with his car and then drove off. Later, a car matching the description given was spotted striking the rear of a vehicle on Main Street in Raeford and Officer Charles Campbell gave chase. The driver was apprehended and arrested after a brief scuffle with Campbell, according to the report. Lonnie E. Hinson, no address given, was charged with hit and run. driving under the influence, assaulting a police officer, and damage to personal property. Other charges are pending in the investigation. In other incidents, James R. McNeill, Rt. 4. Raeford, reported to deputies his home was entered sometime between 8:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. on Feb. 19 and a .32 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol wrapped in an old shirt and hidden in a drawer was stolen. Entry was made by breaking a window, according to the report. Mrs. Bray, 64, died Saturday. Pallbearers were Homer McGuinn, Wilson McBryde, James Wood, Smith Mclnnis, Younger Snead. Jr., and Neill A. MacDonald. Surviving are her husband. Alfred G. Mrs. Elizabeth Brock Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Livingston Brock of Wilmington, who died late Sunday were held Tuesday afternoon at Coble's Oleander Chapel by the Rev. Vincent Wall. I, Raeford, reported the theft of six bottles of Mad Dog 20-20 wine from a storeroom at Pete's Esso Station. The door to the storage area was damaged, according to the report. Terry Johnson, 335 So. Main Street, reported his car was entered Feb. 8 between 7-8 A.M. and a tape player, the battery, the jack, and floor mats with a total value of $ 139 removed. A five year old child sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalized Feb. 19 in an accidental shooting in his home. Brian Slate. Jr., Rt. I.
