POTTER Y - A college class meeting at the Indian Museum in l.aurinburg studies construction of pottery ware native to the region. Indian Culture Portrayed At Laurinburg Museum The Indian Museum of the Carolinas in l-aurinburg, will celebrate its third birthday this Tall. More than 11,000 persons have signed the guest register since it opened in 1972. The exhibit area of the T-shaped museum depicts aspects of ancient Indian life in the region - agriculture, hunting, tool-making, sports and medicine. Stone tools and weapons hundreds and thousands of years old arc on display. Models, cltartsand paintings show Carolina Indian life at different periods of time. Tire Indian artifacts on display have come from many places. Nearly a dozen museums across the country, including the Smithsonian Institution, have sent collections. More than 60 contributors have donated or loaned Indian materials for study and displayf Materials recovered from excavations conducted by Dr. David A. McLean's classes in American Indian Archaeology at both St. Andrews Presbyterian College and Pembroke State University will be on display eventually. Museum hours are from 1 ? S p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 9 - 12 on Tuesday. Admission is free. tOOL Some lime ago a wonderful friend and parishioner passed away following many years of struggle against cancer. Describe watch and pick up. 45C Squad Gives Annual Report Acquisition of a new hydraulic rescue tool and completion of emergency medical training by 20 squadsmen were two of the important accomplishments last year listed in the annual report of the Hoke County Rescue Squad. They also increased their membership to 25 members to keep a five-man squad on call 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Last year the squad answered 202 calls, including 145 auto accidents. 5 fires, 20 ambulance calls, four search for missing persons and five false alarms. Income for the year included SI.322.86 in donations, $4,600 from the county. $2,500 from the city, and $1,500 from United Fund. Expenses were listed at $12,492.34. Hyinan Meyers, president of the company, said the first dividend for the firm would be declared in April and that semiannual dividends would be considered after that. Wingate Plans Burris Honor Alumni of Wingate College are being contacted to attend the first annual weekend to honor C.C. Burris slated for June 20-22. As a student, teacher, dean and president. Burris was involved at Wingate from 1918 to 1961. The "Burris Weekend" is the first time students have been invited to share in a tribute to Burris who died in 1969.
