All the visits, cards and flowers he received while in the hospital and since he came home have been appreciated very much by him and his family. Comment I don't know anything about the big pine tree that was pictured in last week's News-Journal, but 1 want to think it was left there some 80 years ago when my father bought that tract of timber to cut and send down Lumber River in rafts to the sawmill at Alnra. He did buy timber in the Turnpike area. His name was Samuel Thomas Smith, but because tlierc were so many Smiths, he was sometimes called Timber Tom.
