COLLECTION - But what do you do with them? That's the question the
uninitiated ask when they first see a collection of those old blue ? or green ? or clear
? insulators. Pictured are only a few of the things you can do with them. At the
lower left, one is used as a planter; and on the tray, they 're just sitting there waiting
for someone to come along and fill them with wine or beer. At least we're told
that's what some people use them for. On the top shelf, three are arranged, right, in
a wicker holder for vases and a candleholder. Of course, they can be just collected.
The Hoke countian who dug these up in an old field uses them in her breakfast
room windows to give a bit of color to her mornings. Approximately three dozen of
them will be available for the Woman's Club auction on April 12.
Funds Not Needed By Beauty Queen
Funds reported to have been solicited
from businesses in the county for an
advertisement in the Miss North
Carolina beauty pageant for Miss
Southern Pines are not needed,
according to the beauty queen's father.
Frank Kicklighter said that all
expenses for his daughter, Julie, to
compete in the pageant were being paid
by the Southern Pines Jaycees.
He said solicitation for funds in
behalf of Miss Southern Pines were
unauthor 'ed and the money was not
needed.
