Spectator Jailed The coroner's inquest held Thursday night into die death of Angus Thompson was interupted briefly when an apparently inebriated spectator caused a disturbance and was escorted out of die courtroom by sheriff's deputies. Melvin (Bill) Dees, 45, was subsequently arrested for public drunkenness and jailed under $50 bond. The interuption came at 10:50 P.M. when the witness on the stand, SBI agent Ray Davis, had finished reading a written statement into the record. There was a pause after the agent finished his testimony, and loud muttering was heard from the reai of the courtroom. Sheriff David M. Barrington immediately motioned for deputies J. Riley and J. l.amont to remove the impromptu speaker from the courtroom, and as he was escorted out by the deputies, he was heard to state "this is open to the public". According to records. Dees spent the night in jail and posted bond the next day. Bucks Lose Hoke was downed 3-0 by Richmond County last Friday at Rockingham under the strong arm of pitcher Jeff Norton, who allowed the hapless Bucks only two hits. Hoke is now 2-4-1 for the season. Two Bucks pitchers went to the mound but were unable to make any headway as undefeated Richmond blasted Coach Terry Crier's Bucks with eight hits. All three runs were scored in the first inning, as Creg Allen homered and singled. Allen Hodges singled twice in as many trips to the plate. No further information about the game was made available to the News-Journal. The Raiders are now 7-0 and they are traveling to the Gaylord Perry Invitational Tournament at Williamston. Ounnigan is hopeful an official announcement is forthcoming. Dunnigan, who has been here since Dec. 2. has passed the 120 day period postal authorities have established as the maximum time an interim replacement can remain. Dunnigan said Tuesday he believed the post office will waive this 120 day rule, and he expects to remain at his duties until about April 11. He explained he had been hoping for FIND CHINA At one time only royalty and the very wealthy could afford China, notes Wilma Scott, extension house furnishings specialist, North Carolina State University. Fine ceramics - ware originated in the Orient -- thus the name China - and was brought to Europe by traders in the 16th Century. r an official announcement of a successor by last Friday because Friday was the end of a pay period. Bureaucratic regulations make it impossible for the post office to send a new man after a new pay period has begun, he said, so it is not likely Raeford will see their new postmaster until about April 11. Dunnigan said the Post Office could also not waive the 120 day limi t, and send in another interim replacement to replace the interim replacement, Dunnigan. This is not likely though, he said.
